Allette is brilliant, beautiful, April 14, 2000

This review is from: Silicon Valley Rebel (Audio CD)
I had the great pleasure of seeing Allette perform live during her recent tour, which is how I was exposed to her music. She's especially brilliant live, but the recorded tracks do not lose any of the fire and intensity that these songs posess. The track listing (because Amazon does not include it here) is "Unsolicited Advice", "Cab Song", "Journey", "Silicon Valley Rebel", "10 Years", "Bye Now", "Look You In The Eye", "Let Me In", "True Believer", "Cry", "Locked Box", "This Time", and "Clothespin". All of the songs are wonderful. This is folk music at its best- some songs are softer and others edgier, some are heart breaking, and some funny, but they are all marked by intelligent, insightful lyrics that are delivered in Allette's strong, beautiful, fierce voice. I wholly recommend this album to any fan of folk music and look forward to the day when Allette's talent is as widely appreciated as it should be.

pretty weak, December 12, 2002

songs lack verse, chorus, verse or any real structure. Vocals, while powerful, are pretty annoying.
