I read about I Am Not a Paper Cup last year, but saw all the reviews that indicated it had problem with leaks. I decided to wait. I bought this mug after much searching because it was the only microwave-safe, non-plastic travel mug that I could find that didn't have a review complaining about leakage. I regret to inform you, that the lack of reviews complaining about this problem is not an indication that it does not exist.

Nine months later I was at one of those quirky eco/gifty/music stores and I found this Eco Cup and the original IANAPC. The Eco Cup is half the price, so I thought I'd give it a try, and if it leaked or got stinky, at least it was only ten bucks. I've used it almost daily for the last couple of months and have had zero issues with. It's microwave and dishwasher safe. It doesn't smell. It doesn't leak. It's a single-wall version, so the silicone grip is essential. Give it a go--you won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was a skeptic until I bought one!, December 19, 2009
This review is from: Eco Cup w/ Silicone Lid & Sleeve Coffee Tea i am not a paper cup look-a-like white porcelain travel mug (Colors May Vary) (Kitchen)
I never thought this looked like a good idea until I saw one priced under $10. Then I tried it out and BOY was I surprised! Beverages stay hot, the top seals perfectly with no leaks, the silicone grip protects hands from burns and the cup takes heat from a cup warmer with no crazing at all! Great gift for self or co-worker!

Use culinary grade lemon oil to remove lipstick stains from the top and you are good to go again.

I bought this mug after much searching because it was the only microwave-safe, non-plastic travel mug that I could find that didn't have a review complaining about leakage. I regret to inform you, that the lack of reviews complaining about this problem is not an indication that it does not exist.
The trouble seems to be that the silicon lid expands when exposed to heat, therefore when the beverage is steaming hot a gap forms between the cup and the lid. This problem is irritating and inconvenient, but the lid fits snugly for the majority of the time that the beverage is of drinkable temperature. I do, however, have some trouble with it dripping due to the sloshing produced by walking.
A far as insulation goes, I microwave it before walking to class (which takes about 15 minutes, in Los Angeles weather, so not super cold), and I find that it is pleasantly warm for about a half an hour after that. I don't know how this temperature retention relates to other mugs, but I thought I'd put it out here.
The volume of this mug relative to it's weight is slightly less than desirable but I think that is to be expected from a ceramic cup. It's grip is fairly comfortable.
This product could easily get a higher rating if the leaky lid design flaw could be overcome.

I really like this cup! As others have cautioned, it definitely doesn't hold the heat as well as an insulated travel mug, so in that regard it's not great for taking out to the car with you on those cold -10 Minnesota mornings. If heat retention is your major concern, go with the double-wall construction "I am not a paper cup" model. However, I was more interested in volume. I wanted to carry with me more than a measly 9 oz. of beverage and this cup accomplishes that at around 14 oz.

Besides the heavier weight, it looks and feels like you're drinking from a paper cup from Starbucks or Caribou, so for those of us for which coffee house coffee is a luxury we like to indulge in and try to imitate in our own homes, it's great! I haven't had problems with leaky or smelly lids--just rinse or clean the thing immediately after use.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Travel Mug, January 5, 2010

It's such a simple design but looks and works great. I have gone through so many travel mugs that leak. I also hate that I can't wash them in the dishwasher without ruining them. This cup solves all that! It has never leaked, the silicone cover goes on easy and stays on. The porcelain is sturdy, it has never chipped. It is single-walled so the silicone grip is essential. I have had it 6 months and it still looks almost new. Best of all it does great in the dishwasher! It is heavier than a paper cup but it's weight keeps it from tipping over if it's bumped. It doesn't retain flavors & works well in the microwave. I had to buy several more so my husband and teenagers wouldn't take mine.

I like the size (very similar in size and shape to a classic pint pub glass, except obviously ceramic) and the fact that there isn't a handle to get in the way when putting it into a car cup holder. It has a nice weight in your hand, and does not tip over easily. I have had absolutely no problems with the lid either smelling or leaking, and I have cleaned it in the dishwasher without problems. It is not insulated and it would be nice if it was just slightly larger and held 16oz, but all-in-all, a great cup to have and it gets used every day!

This cup holds about 12 ounces of liquid and is obviously heavier than a paper cup, as it's made of porcelain, but still feels pretty light in my hands. The silicone sleeve does a good job keeping the drink warm, protects my hands and helps me to keep a good grip on the cup. I hope that sometime in the future they offer the silicone sleeves (perhaps in different colors) separately as they do for the lids.

The lid does not smell and I have not experienced any leaking!

I bought this cup as a gift for my partner, she loved it! It does a great job and the lid fits well without spilling. The cup can get very hot with hot beverages, but the silicone sleeve does a great job keeping your hands "burn free".

This cup also is very cute and hip!

When researching this product, I never could find the size of the mug... well, it holds 14 oz. I would prefer at least a 16 ozer. Nice and heavy.

I read some good reviews for this cup so I bought it. I like that it is microwaveable and dishwasher safe however, the silicone lid definately has a scent and it turns me off when drinking with it.
