5.0 out of 5 stars ...its da bomb
I like it for rolling pastry....pizza dough. I use Matfer for baking. This large mat can be cut...into smaller sizes for different applications. Matfer can't be cut.
It adheres to the counter and is only 1/16" thick which is good on a counter....when using a rolling pin.
Washes easily..shake and drys almost instantly..its silicone..water rolls off. Rolls up...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good and Bad
This product stays in place while in use, which is the good part. Dough still sticks to it, but the worst part is clean up. It's impossible to clean in the sink and impossible to dry. Towel fibers stick to the surface and clothing fibers and hair and other things you would not expect. Perhaps the best method is to wipe it down with a wet cloth while still on the...

For older people who cant handle large wooden pastry boards...this works very well. Also portable. Good for teaching classes. Perfect for people with little counter space. Use it on a kitchen table.
A while back it was I think 'an error' advertised for $10. That price quickly vanished. I was going to buy 5 and give as gifts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for rolling dough and pastry, March 6, 2006
This review is from: SiliconeZone Large Pastry/Baking Mat (Kitchen)
I prefer this silicon mat over the Silpat as a pastry mat. Not only does it have the nice size guides, it's thinner and sticks down to the counter better. Nice large size for most work, and versatile enough to use in the oven as well. Of course, being silicon, you get the usual non-stick properties that make it so excellent for dough and pastry work.

I love it. Nothing i've put on it will stick.
Its large enough to completely cover the rack in the oven and seems to promote more even & faster cooking of the foods.

Cookies come right off with no effort at all.

I have three standard size matfers and I really love them, but they did not give me a large work space and they did not stick to the counter. This gives me both of those features and it can still go in the oven. I was going to buy the matfer large pastry mat, but it did not have free shipping. I am glad I kept looking because this gives me the work mat features and still can go in the oven. So far the non stick is just as good as my matfers. I love this mat.

4.0 out of 5 stars It solved my baking problems, January 9, 2007

We recently remodeled our kitchen and the new coutnertops have a bit of texture to them, so I knew rolling out pie dough would be a problem. I ordered the silicone pastry mat, hoping it would solve my situtation and it certainly did. It was easy to use, the markings helped get the pie dough rolled out to just the right size, and it was pretty close to stick free. The dought did stick just a tiny bit, but still so much better than rolling dough out on our old smooth counters, and the mat is thin and flexible enough to allow me to flip the mat over the pie dish and gently ease the crust right in. Amazon's price was much better than some of the cooking specialty stores/catalogs I checked with.

These things are great! I especially love the fact that it sticks (slightly) to my counter top so it is stable while I'm working with my dough, etc. It also cleans up easy and then sticks to my cabinet door over my sink to drain after washing! I can finally dump my old stiff plastic pastry mat that I had to anchor down so that it didn't move all over the place.

This purchase felt like quite a splurge price wise, but at least it turned out to be of good quality and seems as if it will hold up to many years of use if taken care of.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now I pound away at bread dough without reservation., October 30, 2006
This review is from: SiliconeZone Large Pastry/Baking Mat (Kitchen)
This is big enough for me to let loose on bread dough on my 38 year old linoleum kitchen countertop. Yay.

I dry this in the oven and it gives off a sharp smell so the oven is not the right place to store it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Silicone Pastry Mat, September 20, 2007

I was debating whether to buy a pastry board like my mother has used for many years or to buy a silicone pastry mat. The pastry board has a tendency to slide around as you work the dough which was a big disadvantage to me. The dough also tended to stick to the board.
So I bought this large silicone mat & have been very, very happy with it. The dough doesn't stick to the silicone & the mat stays in place on my countertop like it was glued there, yet comes up easily when you're finished. It cleans with no effort & can be rolled up for storage. It's just a wonderful product
