Rama IV is actually Paul Downes, who has here created, as far as I know, the only worldbeat album based on Thai music. It's a winner, with substantial samples of traditional Thai music as well as the contributions of Thai vocalists who were recorded in the studio, not sampled. Additionally, Alain Eskinasi lends his talents to two of the tracks, a welcome element.

While most of the songs are originals, they are based in large part on native Thai music. One track is an ancient Thai song, and there are also a couple of remixes of another track. The electronic components--beats and soundscapes--do much to bring out the inherent uniqueness of Thai music. In short, this is a worldbeat album that really works.

This is an absolutely fabulous album. It's INCREDIBLE! What a divine amalgamation of old and modern.. electro beats, traditional Thai chants; deeply moving spiritual vocals and instrumentation. ROCK ON RAMA 4! When are you going to release a new disk?? Let me know! :)
