This story is dedicated to Shari Lynn Hunt, a wonderful woman who passed away from cancer. She was the author's mother. Shari lived her life with unfailing faith, an open loving heart and a giving spirit. Countless family and friends fondly remember her for her compassion and gentle strength.
The Silk Robe is inspired by a beautiful gift she was too humble to use. While coping with her grief, Shaunna wrote the story in an attempt to share her mother's amazing spirit with others. Shaunna entered a contest sponsored by American Mothers, Inc. and her essay won first place in the State Literature Contest. It went on to place second at the national level. Her Mom's shining example showed her the triumph of the human spirit.
She will always miss her Mom, but her death taught Shaunna to cherish the ones she loves. Even the ordinary days will transform into something special if we use the incredible power of love. Gift notecard and envelope included.
