Biography

Silk are a five-piece R&B vocal group from Atlanta, formed under the mentorship of producer Keith Sweat. Silk topped the charts with “Freak Me” from their 1993 debut album, which itself reached the No.1 spot on both the Billboard 200 and the R&B charts. Of their subsequent releases, which have failed to match their strong start, the Love Sessions album has been their best performer.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is actually one of their better albums, August 20, 2002
By
This review is from: Silk (Audio CD)
Though Silk's self-titled album went gold, it was considered a disappointment for fans who still wanted that "freak me, baby" flavor. So for those fans, the only song that really gets to that level, "I Can Go Deep" (from "A Low Down Dirty Shame" OST), is perfect baby-making music. But I actually like it when they DON'T talk about making love, like on the incredible ballads, "It's So Good", "Because of Your Love", "What Kind of Love is This" and especially the Gerald Levert-penned "Don't Go to Bed Mad". Add this to your Silk, and R&B, collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Hidden Gem, May 23, 2001
This review is from: Silk (Audio CD)
The follow-up release to Lose Control, this CD is actually better than the first! Several gems like "Don't Rush", "Don't Go TO Bed Mad", and "Because of Your Love" make this the perfect CD for romantics.

5.0 out of 5 stars 11 well written adn sung tracks are why you should buy it, July 27, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Silk (Audio CD)
In stark contrast to their first cd, Silk uses beautiful love ballads to showcase their vocal talent. The only song that even resembles the "old" Silk is "I can go deep", which is from the "Low Down Dirty Shame" soundtrack and really doesn't fit in with the rest of the songs. The songs are very powerful and heartfelt and you will find yourself singing them or at least relating to them. The lyric evoke emotions from the listener and this proves that the group has grown up. Silk has traded flash for substance and the result is success. Why this album wasn't well recieved I do not know. But, I do no that this record proves Silk belongs at the top of today's R&B groups.
