Let us first establish who Silke Bischoff is. It began as a duo of Felix Flaucher (vocals, lyrics, music) and Axel Kretschmen (music, sounds). The name comes from that of a victum in a major hostage situatuion in 1988. Their music is a gothic, folk, synth hybrid. Giving a wide selection of styles.
This is their debut release officially titled "Silke Bischoff". The full title however is "This is the new religion.Listen to Silke Bischoff". It was released in 1992 by SPV,INRI,and AM music. The cover of art of an average goth holding a knife are followed by many others holding different weapons. All photos are taken and arraged by Felix ,and the models are also members of the Silke Bischoff family.
As for the music of this record. It's the darkest I've heard form them. The songs have a really haunting gothic vibe to them. along with deep male vocals. Which remind of depressed crys. Not all the songs are sung dark and deep however. Five out the total 11 traks are sung in a bueatiful soothing voice ( three of which are acoustic versions of songs that are already on this album). Its amazing how Felix can change his voice. You would not believe it was the same guy.
Favorite tracks include " I dont love you anymore acoustic", " On the other side ", "The church bells and razor blades" and last but most important " Hold me". Which is the saddest song I've ever heard. The best thing about Silke Bischoff is how they can perform songs that people can enjoy the sound of. Yet also relate to the lyrics. Some songs tell storys and its easy to follow along. You'll be so hooked. your not just listening to a cd. your being told storys. Some might even relate to your life.
All in all I recommend the whole Silke collection. Which consist of five albums. All with original photos of the family which seems to grow. Silke is still around to this day. just under the new band name 18 Summers. So you know they are good if they have made it for the past 12 years. Anyway you would really enjoy this band. I did.

Silke is a german band who plays gothic music. It's lovely dark voices together with a fair womans voice who also plays the violin. The lyrics are great and so dark. But still it's not a depressive cd, silke can really say what you sometimes have been thinking..when you are down or when you just have been thinking about life in generally.
