4.0 out of 5 stars Romance at its Best
This is the kind of story which makes you feel all warm inside. You get caught up with the efforts of the hero to win the affection of the heroine, without compromising himself or reneging on a promise. You struggle with the heroine as she tries to come to grips with both her past and her future. I had difficulty putting it down, and the story has remained on my mind...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not as good as her others
I thought Silken Betrayal was good, its a little different from her other story lines, (them wanting at first sight, dieing to touch, several hot and steamy kisses and love scene), you know! Anyway it took me 2 days to read it, when I usually finish her book in one. I thought it took to long for the heroine and hero to get together, she pushed him away more times then...

This is the kind of story which makes you feel all warm inside. You get caught up with the efforts of the hero to win the affection of the heroine, without compromising himself or reneging on a promise. You struggle with the heroine as she tries to come to grips with both her past and her future. I had difficulty putting it down, and the story has remained on my mind. There's a good blend of romance, sex, and conflict. I thought that there could have been a little more mystery. However, the book is obviously a romance first and foremost and not a mystery. Not too much tension, but just enough to capture and hold the reader's interest. If you love a romance, and appreciate reading of African-American heros and heroines who reflect good sound values, then you'll love this book. I did.

I thought Silken Betrayal was good, its a little different from her other story lines, (them wanting at first sight, dieing to touch, several hot and steamy kisses and love scene), you know! Anyway it took me 2 days to read it, when I usually finish her book in one. I thought it took to long for the heroine and hero to get together, she pushed him away more times then not. The ending however showed promise, it was what saved the book for me and the introduction of Sonja and Drake's story I want to read more about them. She is still one of my favorite authors. I think Undeniable was my favorite.

4.0 out of 5 stars When You Open Your Heart Again, February 14, 2010
This review is from: Silken Betrayal (Mass Market Paperback)
Lauren Bennett lived a life that consisted of her job as an executive secretary and being a single mother to 5 year old Joshua. Since the accident that claimed the lives of her husband and her mother, Lauren's main concern has been to keep her son happy and safely away from his father's influential parents.

Jordan Hamilton was a successful business man with a grudge against Lauren's father-in-law. Jordan is determined to make him pay for the undo pain and humiliation his greed and lies caused to his family.

Lauren's plus sized friend Sonja is trying to show her friend that it is ok for her to be a mom and love again. The blossoming love between Lauren and Jordan is mixed with mystery and intrigue as we learn just what harm Lauren's father-in-law caused and tries to continue to cause in the lives of Jordan and Lauren. The mystery of Jordan's grudge and how it will affect Lauren keeps you on edge throughout and has you routing for Lauren, Jordan and Joshua.

The relationship that Joshua begins to form with Jordan will pull at your heart strings as Joshua begins to experience things he was missing as a young boy growing up without a dad. Romance lovers will surely enjoy this love story told as only Mrs. Ray can. I recommend this book to readers of romance and Francis Ray. If you are looking to read an erotic work place drama this is the story for you.

Lauren Bennett had not become romantically involved with a man for over five years, not since the death of her husband. Lauren was trying to escape being discovered by her husband's family, especially his father. She was afraid he would want to take away the one possession she had left from her husband -- their five year old son, Joshua. Unbeknowing to Lauren, there was a man out there that was looking for her beside her father-in-law.

Jordan Hamilton was looking for Lauren because he wanted to extract revenge on Lauren's father-in-law, who Jordan felt was responsible for Jordan's father's death. Jordan has gone to lengths to meet Lauren. However, Jordan's meeting with Lauren, is electric from the start. The pictures of Lauren does not do her justice.

Lauren and Jordan become romantically involved, but somehow, Lauren's father-in-law discovers where Lauren is. He meets with Lauren and unveils that Jordan is only using Lauren to suit Jordan's means. Lauren is hurt and confused because she has not only let Jordan into her life, but Jordan has entered Joshua's life also.

Jordan, who has realized that he does not want to hurt Lauren, but that he loves Lauren, has decided to forget what he originally planned. However, Lauren cannot forget that Jordan set out to use her, but they are now a couple.

Lauren's friend and neighbor, Sonja is a good friend to Lauren. Sonja has led a fun filled life and hit it right off when she meets Jordan's friend and private investigator, Drake Lansing.

"Silken Betrayal" is about a newfound love, that has been shattered with distrust. It is about two people opening up and sharing how they really feel about each other. "Silken Betrayal" is about burying the past, overcoming the hurt, and embracing a new future. "Silken Betrayal" is about true love.
