Book Description
Nevada Marie Hamilton's golden dream was to be a singer on the Mississippi riverboat, so when given the chance, she climbed aboard the Moonlight Gambler and became it's newest entertainer. When devilish Johnny Roulette invited the naive beauty to spend the evening wih him, she thought her wildest fantasies had come true, and his kisses caused her head to swirl like the waters of the mighty river. The elusive johnny Roulette had long tanalized the Gambler's showgirls with his sleek body and midnight eyes. After hearing the steamboat's newest angel sing, Johnny himself was charmed, but the blue-eyed seductress wasn't the lady of the night he believed her to be. Upon discovering the truth during their night of unrestrained passion, johnny realized he'd been dealt the best hand of his life: love. When I first started reading this book, I thought it was going to be great- and it was for at least 250 pages, but then it became tedious for the last 150. In the beginning Nevada's naivety and love at first sight infatuation, and Johnny's guilty and indifferent attitude towards Nevada after he realized that he had taken an 18 year old virginity was charming, but Nevada's abrupt change in personality in the middle of the story did not ring true to me. Johnny did not change at all, and that was the problem with him. How he fell in love with Nevada without showing any interest in her what so ever, is beyond me! As a reader you are hardly privy to his thoughts on nevada or how he came to love her, and his actions would show you otherwise. This book really started to deteriorate in the end. The plot got out of control and was not at all believable. I was so disappointed in the execution of this book because I was really enjoying most of it before it started to take a turn for the worst.

There were times in teh book that I really wanted the girl to get a back bone and smack the guy for being to rude, but that's simmiler in a lot of books. The story wasn't exactly unique, but it was a really fun read. If you are looking for a book that will take your breath away, you might want to look else were. But if you want something fun and light hearted, this is a good book. |
