5.0 out of 5 stars Silken Love -- Smooth and Musical
I loved this storyline about Eric Crawford and Lauren Michaels. This was a first in many regarding the Crawfords. It may seem coincidental how Eric is first introduced to Lauren, but then that's life and coincidences happen all the time. Eric is a doctor, who Lauren's adopted daughter, Shayla just happened to go to for female advice. Ironically, Eric also happened to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Lacked Depth
I would have really enjoyed this story if storylines were started and then not finished. Characters were then introducted, but later disappeared. I didn't get any real feel for the characters because they lacked depth. It took me a while to get into the story. I almost didn't finish it, but I like to finish what I start.

Ironically, Eric also happened to be Shayla's father -- unknown to all -- Shayla and Eric at the time. However, Eric's suspects he may be her father after viewing Shayla's birthmark, which is a Crawford's family mark.

Through this chance first meeting, Eric and Lauren are brought together. Although their first few meetings are on shaky ground, their feelings for one another change and love surfaces. So what started out as a rough encounter ends up as smooth as "Silken Love."

Again, a great first story and the first of the Crawford line with more to come in "Endless Love," "Keeping Secrets," "Kissed," and Shayla's own story, "Doctor, Doctor."

5.0 out of 5 stars Steamy and Romantic!!!, July 8, 1998
By A Customer
Wow! The sensuality and sexual chemistry between the characters is hot. Slowly, but surely Dr. Crawford breaks Lauren's defenses down. I'm not suprised that she was apprehenisive concerning Dr. Crawoford's claim as Shayla father. I would have been too. I was glad to find out that Lauren didn't have to give up her job and promotion to be with Eric. He agreed to move with her and everything worked out just fine. Great Reading!!

3.0 out of 5 stars With a little care, this story could have been memorable., July 8, 1998
By A Customer
Some of the unforgivable gaffes in this story took place at the printer's and can be laid at the feet o the publisher, but the others...

Come on , Carmen! The characters in this story come and go like the folks in "Oz" (as in "Wizard of...!). Continuity is every bit as important in a romance as it is in any other genre. This relatively short read took me nearly two weeks, and then I had to force myself to continue.

By the time I slogged through it, I couldn't have cared less about the fancy lady or the charming doctor. Life is hard enough without this boring contribution. Sincerely.

I've read a few of the other comments. And personally I do not agree. I loved this book. I read it quite a few times. It really held my attention. I just think the book was great, the romance and everything.

5.0 out of 5 stars Talk About a "Slow Burn!", April 5, 2000
This review is from: Silken Love (Mass Market Paperback)
If you think Brenda Jackson, Bette Ford, Carla Fredd, Francis Ray, and Rochelle Alers has love scenes out of this world, you must read this book. The love story it self is the bomb, but the love scenes, need I say more. Oh huh, I like to hear a story about their dauther, I think it is has been long enough! Much Love Ms Green!

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, August 24, 1998
By A Customer
I was in search of light summer reading, but found this book to be far too light for my taste. Characters were never in quite the same place as where I last left them ("Cheyney" floats through this story like "Tinkerbelle" -- what's up with that?), and personalities were virtually nonexistant. Additionally, the compromising situations the characters find themselves in were exactly that -- situations that compromised the integrity and value of the story. I'm sorry because I really wanted to like this little story.

1.0 out of 5 stars Did I just get a 'bad' copy?, October 5, 1999

I wish I could say that I think I got a book full of misprints because the story I read seemed unfinished. I don't usually fill in this kind of survey-review, but I have to speak out on this book.

I had a chance to read Ms. Green's newest book (COMMITMENTS) and I'm glad I gave her a second chance, because SILKEN LOVE is anything but a silky read. Frankly, it sucks.
