This book is the same as Little Luxury Knits by the same author. It's a lovely lovely book and I highly recommend it but I was fooled by the title and thought it was a sequel to Little Luxury Knits and was eager to have it and so I was hughely dissapointed when I discovered I ordered a book I already have with a different title.

You cannot have too many books when you are having fun.,

And that is just what I'm doing having fun trying out different types of yarn different types of patterns in different types of skills and being able to produce not so much clothing items as designs of shawls pillows and a like.
There is just something tactful and funs about having the book in your hand were sitting nearby as you are attempting to produce what you see. I already have material in the tools just needed the inspiration and the direction that this book supplies. My real target is the gallery of luxury - mohair samples shown on page 8 to 9. If something useful comes from this that is all right also. For the technically inclined I must say that the pictures are very descriptive and there are diagrams of how to do some of the most fundamental basics as the thumb cast on method. You will not catch me doing it but there also details on how to include things like sequins and beads.

Great patterns for a beautiful yarn,

I love Kidsilk Haze and when I saw there was a book devoted to patterns for it and for Kidsilk Aura (a medium weight version of the yarn), I had to have it. I know there are patterns all over the internet for these yarns, but I love knitting books and I really like books that are made for one type of yarn. It kinds of takes the stress out of finding something to make with a type of yarn I know I want to use.
The patterns in this book are not overly complicated, which I'm really glad about. I find Kidsilk Haze a little tricky to work with and haven't had much luck with fixing mistakes, so I'm more than happy to keep it simple. Quite a few of the pieces have beads knitted into them and there is a whole page on how to do it. There are a few things where they use a "colorwash" technique where similar colors are striped and I love those. The fuzziness of the yarn really makes it look like the colors just blend from one to the other. There are a couple fingerless mitten patterns that I'm sure would be super warm and comfortable. There is a sock pattern that seems kind of impractical, but it only takes 4 balls (you use two different colors held together) and I can only imagine how comfortable it will be wearing those while laying around reading or knitting. I'm definitely going to make them. There are a couple pillow patterns which would also be super soft to relax on. You knit the pillow top in stockinette stitch and they suggest Amy Butler fabrics for the backing, which looks gorgeous. I'm working on the cape that is on the cover and so far it's been very easy to do and it only uses three balls. I can't wait to finish it because it will be perfect for when the air conditioning is on or on a chilly evening. There are a couple of bag patterns that would be nice if you make the socks or mittens to give as a gift. Of course there are a few scarf patterns, but they look pretty easy - mostly made on large needles and no fancy patterns to follow. The patterns for Kidsilk Aura look just as nice as the patterns for the finer yarn. There is a basic watch-cap pattern that only takes two balls and patterns for a matching scarf and mittens. There is a beautiful afghan that uses 13 balls and a matching pillow that uses 5 balls. Besides the patterns, there are tips for working with mohair yarn and also tips for caring for your items when they are finished. All in all, I think this is a great book to have if you love Kidsilk Haze and I'm sure you could also use other mohair/silk yarns such as Alchemy Haiku, which is another beautiful yarn.

Lots of Useless Stuff,

Basically only one or maybe two patterns that are for useful and useable things . The rest are quite frankly nonsense that no one will use or get money for value.
Its no bargain if you purchase a small quantity of expensive yarn and then proceed to make make something useless. Would not recommend this one.

There are a whole host of patterns in this book that I want to use. They are stylish, lacy, and use the fuzzy yarns that work up so well. I'm considering the book a definite keeper and may give additional copies to my knitting friends.

It is a great little book with some very fun and interesting patterns, sadly, Rowan has discontinued the reccommended yarn for these patterns. You can find substitutes, but they are very pricey.
