Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Bestselling, professional, aluminum telescoping pole saw - the pole saw of choice by professionals. The aluminum alloy extension poles are oval shaped, providing precise control over the direction of the blade (especially important for high cutting) and giving strength and rigidity to the pole thus reducing bending to the minimum. The base pole has a pole-end shock absorber and comfortable rubberized overgrip which ensures good hold and control. The 15-2/5-inch curved blade utilizes proprietary Silky 4-RETSUME (Four Rows of Teeth) Technology. Teeth are set in such a way that there appears to be 4 rows of them. Ideal for toughest pruning jobs! Blade can be adjusted to two different angles for lower or higher cutting and features an upper and lower sickle. The upper sickle is used to cut vines and lower sickle to undercut bark. Lower sickle provides clean cut without damaging tree, while upper sickle prevents blade from slipping off limb. HAYAUCHI is the finest telescoping pole saw available on the market today. Black rigid-plastic blade cover is included. Made in Japan. To allow effective use of HAYAUCHI pole saws, two locking systems are incorporated to assure structural rigidity of the extended poles: 1) locking pins/buttons - the primary pole locking mechanism; and 2) friction clamps - the secondary pole locking mechanism. The two systems are designed to work together. This dual locking system allows 100% of the effort at the handle to be effectively transferred to the blade up to 21 feet away. Spring-loaded locking buttons allow multiple length adjustments and safety friction clamps hold the extensions firmly in place. Safety considerations require that the pole saw user must wear a hard hat and eye protection at all times. Manufacturer Warning: Do not use aluminum telescoping pole saws around electrical power lines or equipment. Electrical shock may result. Incorrect use of the Silky pole saw may cause injury.

This review is from: Silky Telescoping Landscaping Pole Saw HAYAUCHI 390 12-Feet 177-39 (Lawn & Patio)
When I unpacked this saw I was shocked by the weight of the pole and the size and thickness of the blade. I thought perhaps I should have chosen a smaller saw, so put it away in my shed to admire and try someday. Well, this week was bulk trash pickup and I wanted to cut a couple of branches off my citrus trees. Normally I would have begged or bribed my son or son-in-law to do this for me, but got out the new saw and started. This saw is magnificent!!! It worked beautifully for branches from 1" to 6" thick. I intended to cut only 2 or 3 branches, but it was so easy I pruned and thinned 2 trees with minimal effort. It actually worked best for low branches, ones that were below the level of my shoulders. I stood a pole length away and the weight of the pole helped put pressure on the blade so all I needed to do was pull. It is convenient to have a curved blade at each end of the saw; this keeps the saw in position, preventing it from slipping off the branch. The easy part of my job was cutting branches, it took much longer to drag and stack the cuttings for pickup. Because of the weight of this saw, it might be difficult for me, a small woman, to use extended for high branches which requires arm and upper body strength. I might still need to bribe the guys to help with this, which shouldn't be difficult based on their envious inspection of my new tool. No buyer's remorse with this purchase, only buyer's rejoice.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT TOOL!!!!, December 29, 2007
This Silky pole saw is like performing surgery. It is made in Japan of high quality material. I never knew a pole saw could be of such quality. I cut through a 6" oak limb in seconds. . . smaller limbs with 2-3 strokes. My advice: spend the $$$ . . . it should last a lifetime, but select model carefully, according to your cutting needs. Wide toothed saws don't work too well on flimsy small branches. If most of your home gardening work is on small branches, get a saw with finer teeth. I'm sure it will still cut beautifully. The large toothed models are designed for larger limbs. I cut even small limbs effectively . . . if I cut at a point close to a larger limb which offered support. You could cut down a large tree with these Silky saws. The telescoping pole is oval, super-strong, and solid. The rubber covered lower section offers exceptional comfort. I can't recommend this Silky saw highly enough.

As for the vendor, after I called them and asked them to ship as early as possible, theY got it out ahead of listed shipping time!

I have been wanting a pole saw for a while - - safety purposes when doing property thinnings or tree work - - I believe I made the right choice. Easy to extend and contract, the blade can be sharpened - - is a great size - - and is improved with the large blades at the ends. Look forward to many years of safe and time saving work with this tool.
