5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful introduction to classical for children, May 8, 2001

Shirley Nelson-Joyce (Santa CLarita Ca United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Silly Classical Songs (Audio CD)
This cd is really fun to listen to. It is fun silly words to great well known clssical music. My Son is 3 years old and he sits in front of the stero in total awe. Wonderful backround singing as well. I am buying 3 more for my neices and nephews. If you would like your child to have a bit of class in his or her style of music this is a good start.

5.0 out of 5 stars Symphonically Silly, June 6, 2011

These very funny songs set to classical music are a real ear-bender. Walt Disney studios has managed to combine a love of symphonic music with amusing lyrics every kid and kid-wanna-be will love. If you like Victor Borge's antics with classical music, then you will find this Disney production equally amusing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classical Fun, May 27, 2010

This was probably the CD that held the interest of my kids the longest of any CD. On top of that, I've enjoyed it, which is more than I can say for many other childrens' CD's. When my youngest was a tot, the Disney voices and music variety fascinated him. As he got older and understood the irony and humor in the songs, they captured his heart. Even now, as a pre-teen, he remembers the songs with fondness and admires the clever way the lyrics fit into the classical frame, the personality of the songs, and the well-written lyrics. "Your Library" is a fun tribute to the library system. "Technology", my personal favorite, combines a progressive science accent with the music of Carmen. Then Goofy takes us through the wacky trials of his window washing job, letting us groan, one step ahead of him as he makes mistakes. One about the stress of parenting is there as parents dash around in the car doing many of the errands in the song. I always found the humor helpful to my stress level. Ode to Ice Cream was one of the kids' favorites.
Cons: Only one song was a skipper for me,and the kids liked that fine. The one done to 1812 Overture,my younger found stressful at a point in his development.
After the silly take on the classics, the originals follow. As a tot, my younger fell asleep at this point. When he was older, either he relaxed at that point or sang along Karaoke style. When other CD's came out of the player and this CD went in, evident relief always settled on my husband's face. All in all, this was a family favorite.
