I was so pleased when I had a chance to look over this book! I am a Jeff Foxworthy fan and enjoy his comedy but he really knows kids too! I had ordered this book to donate to my local library in honor of my greatgrand-baby and I was so pleased, as was the library staff. The children will enjoy the silly text and the illustrations were bright, colorful, and very well done. THANK YOU, JEFF! Helen Barr, Auburn, GA

This review is from: Silly Street: Selected Poems (I Can Read Book 2) (Paperback)
I bought this book as a companion to the Dirt on my Shirt book by the same author. I honestly thought the book was ok and not as funny and catchy as the first one. However it was still worth keeping because it was a gift and you never know what children will really like.

As a teacher I read this book while the students listened and drew all the things they heard on their Silly Street. I read it twice because of the many details encountered. The second time they added "Bubbles" and included things the characters said. Funny, entertaining, and a good listening exercize. Loved it!

An excellent book for children,

This is an excellent book for children, managing to encapsulate what most children like to do, from getting dirty in the perpetual mud puddle to riding a pony, a petting zoo, hats to wear, trumpets to blow, candy to munch, a bubble gum tree, a merry-go-round, a huge sandbox and a daily parade.
All of this is found on Silly Street and is described in a rhyming style that is very similar to that of the master, Dr. Seuss. At the end the main character is wore out, happy to be in bed after an active day on silly street and content in the knowledge that his imagination can take him back there any time he wants it to. Listed as being for ages 4-7, this is a book that younger children would love having read to them.

I didn't know Jeff Foxworthy wrote children's books. I picked it up because it looked like fun and my grandkids have really enjoyed it.

This is a really cute book with very creative rhyming. It was entertaining for me to read and really lets the reader use their imagination. It is written so that you can just read some it at a time if your reader has a short attention span or if parent is tired of reading. Makes a good storytime book cause it ends with the kid going to bed.

Who would've ever guessed that Jeff Foxworthy could rival the beloved Dr. Seuss? And yet, here in Silly Street he does just that. His poetry engages you and the pictures he creates make you want to run away to Silly Street! Great for adults and children alike, enjoy a trip down memory lane.
