5.0 out of 5 stars Shimmering perfection....., June 28, 2009
By
This review is from: Silmand (Audio CD)
Stoa have been around for a number of years, putting out only 4 full length cd's...each with a different unique sound, but still loyal to the base sound.

This, Silmand, their latest relase, envokes visions of sweeping landscapes and oceans like the beautiful cover implies. Earlier relases leaned more to piano and cello, where as this release leans more to striungs and cellos....

Tracklisting:
01 Sakrileg (2:57) Perhaps the darkest and most stirring of the whole cd

02 Broken Glass (3:22) and Irish sounding love song beautifully sung

03 La Lune Blanche (3:52) sarah Brightman could make this her own....

04 Daar (3:24) a frolicking piano tune...makes you think of the early years of flight...the planes...the swooping fighter planes....feilds of wheat beneath them...

05 Iter Devium (3:32) sweeping new age type song, with gothic female vocals and bells....wonderful!

06 My Last Way (3:49) A song about your final words....the most Gothic song on the whole cd...and the most chilling...
07 Palladium [Night] (2:48) another new-age type song....a very good song, but my least favorite on the cd
08 Ways (3:28) quiet piano song

09 Modesty (3:28) Epic!

10 Hanuz Nist (4:32) another sweeping gothic song...tragic and beautiful

11 A Drinking Song (3:40) could be a single...catchy
12 So Many Clouds (3:51) uplifting and calming
13 Tacitum (3:29) sad cello and piano

I really like the original lineup of Stoa from their first two CDs, but Silmand was worth the buy. Great CD.
