4.0 out of 5 stars Thoughtful troubadour, July 3, 2008

This review is from: Silos and Smokestacks (Audio CD)
Mark Jungers is one of the best of a fine young crop of emerging singer-songwriters, like Todd Snider, Tommy Womack and Will Kimborough. A keen observer of life, he writes lyrics that are thoughtful, smart and witty _ more like Ed Sanders than Leonard Cohen.
The music is earthy and friendly _ a little country, a little folky, a little rocky _ somewhere between The Band and Country Joe, with a touch of Jerry Jeff Walker or Townes van Zandt. Not a bad cocktail and its parts add up to some great Americana. The Whistling Mules are in perfect sync and add some magic harmonies to Jungers' nasal drawl.
Best tracks are the lively opener, Silos and Smokestacks, the ditty of comeuppance, It Ain't Funny, the revivalist spiritual Meatless Tuesdays and Home Sweet Home Blues.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heart of the subject..., March 24, 2010

Silo's and Smokestacks is outstanding. If you understand life in the heart of this country you will bond with this CD. To the core Mark nails it. Great way with the words, the music rocks and toe taps you from start to finish.
Not many CD's you love from song one to the end of the spin.. but like they say good to the last drop. I am a die hard fan now .. just wanting these guys hitting the stage at places like FARM AID... anyone listening? A modern day Woody Guthrie...
