I was horrified to see the negative reviews of this book. I took the Silva Mind Control course, and, I must say, I believe that it's the best thing I've ever done for myself. Now free of unhealthy stress and negative limiting belief systems, I am freed up to contribute to my loved ones rather than drag them down. Have you ever had a flash of intuition, a dream which came to pass in reality; perhaps you thought of a person and then two seconds later, you receive a call from them? These little synchronicities, or coincidences, as you might call them, are very common. We all have this ability. The Silva Method is simply a way to learn to trust your intuition so that you can use it to solve problems. What kind of problems? Any kind-because you will use your mind to solve any problem you have, and the Silva Method is mind development. How is it developed? straightforward relaxation, visualization, imagination, and autosuggestion(affirmations). Sorry, no demons and devils are invoked! This is strictly positive stuff! There are a few Silva Method clubs where people meet to meditate together and share ideas, but that's as close as it comes to becoming a cult. I have never been coerced by Silva people-everything is voluntary, and no pressure is applied. Mind Control refers to your ability to control your own brain wave frequencies, and then to use exercises in visualisation and imagination to solve problems. Jose Silva discovered, through empirical analysis, that the alpha brain wave frequency range was the most beneficial one to access, because it is conducive to better relaxation, concentration, recall, genius mentality, and, believe it or not, detecting information at a distance with only the use of your mind. Yes, that's right, you can do it, and quite easily. I realize that statement sounds more like science fiction than science, but science backs up this amazing idea. Even before Jose Silva came along, scientists who studied psychic ability never disputed its reality. Psychic ability is real, and it can be taught-like playing the violin or baseball, the more you practice the better you will get. You may develop 80% accuracy in psychic detection if you practice frequently-few have gotten any better. We know it's o.k. to be imperfect, however. That 80% goes a long way towards solving problems and making the world a better place. Silva practicioners are normal people with positive attitudes. I am eternally grateful to God for granting a troubled young man a method by which he transformed his life from a mess into a beautiful success.

Anyone who calls Silva Mind Control a cult or implies that the use of these methods is placing oneself above God doesn't understand what they read. Silva Mind Control is a method of Dynamic Meditation and Creative Visualization. It is what Norman Vincent Peale was referring to when he wrote The Power of Positive Thinking. It is what every Olympic and professional athlete, every successful individual does. It is the first step on the road to greatness. There have been countless books written about creative visualization. None of them are as concise in teaching you how to do it as Silva Mind Control. Scientists acknowledge that we only use approximately 5% of our mind. The other 95% lies domant. Silva Mind Control teaches you to use the dormant part of your mind. It teaches you to create your future, rather than be a passive observer. It teaches you to take responsiblity for how your thoughts create your life instead of mistakenly thinking that life happens to you. Positive thoughts attract positive events. Negative thoughts attract negative events. The name Silva Mond Control tells you what it does. It teaches you to control YOUR mind and YOUR life. Silva Mind Control is also a form of behavior modification, replacing negative thoughts and feelings with positive thoughts and feelings. Healthy people never worry about being sick. Rich people never worry about being poor. Sick and poor people always do. You give power to whatever your mind focuses on. If you always worry about being sick, you will make yourself ill. If you know you are healthy, you will be. Every successful person is a visonary, with the abilty to see the future as they want it to be and the faith to make it happen. One of my ex High School students is an academy award winning actress. There was never any doubt in my mind that she would be, because there was never any doubt in hers. Warning: Silva Mind Control is only for individuals who have the desire to change their lives, the courage to make their dreams come true and the commitment to to make it happen.

The book had been laying around the house for a long time and one day I was feeling down and started reading it. It made me value my life more and helped me accept the things that come my way. It has helped me solve problems and it's helping me in my relationships. It's a great book that will definately make you analyze yourself and will help you live at ease.

This is a wonderful tool that should not be dismissed. It really teaches you to dive a little deeper into your fears, or characteristics you may wish to change. It allows you to heal those thoughts that are not supportive. It's a very powerful yet simple way of looking at things. Not everyone is going to get this, many are stuck in old patterns and refuse to liberate themselves...anyway, take what you can at least you will find one or two things of greatness from this book or cassette. I have the cassette which is great it has help though some amazing shifts.

Going into Alpha and supressing on your subconscious is beyond powerful...its like writing a new script for your life and seeing the changes in a very short time. Say you have unhealthy addictions, or you are always doubtful of the things you want or can do, maybe you are afraid to fly, or talk in front of a group, or you procrastinate, maybe you want to loose weight but cant seem to get the will power, Or maybe you have learned something and want it to stick. Things like that can be shifted through you if you apply this principle. Forget the 15year olds who are reviewing this...I was 12 when I first read Jose Silvia's books, (thanks to my mother) I loved it then and rediscovering this one now is perfect and greatly appreciated.

Occultish or Out of Date are not good words to describe the Silva Method as Jose Silva divorced conventional meditation from the eastern traditions and took it into a scientific approach with repeatable results. Instead of focusing on your breathing or saying a mantra, he teaches how to do a countdown to get your brain waves to alpha. They did several things like this with the Remote Viewing programs in the military/CIA (scanate, etc). Listen or read Lynne McTaggarts books to find out about the remote viewing history among other things. I have several friends that are Silva Graduates and have been able to heal not only myself but others that I know using Silva training. This summer I had a severe pain in my tail bone which I couldn't move and was in excruciating pain whilst in bed not moving... I missed work for two days hoping that when I woke up the next day (each day) I would feel better but no such luck. I finally forced myself to email my friends and then laid back down again. About 45 minutes later my pain dropped from the 9 - 10 it was at to a level 1 or even a .5. It dramatically decreased in a matter of 15 minutes and I was able to get up and check my email. First thing I see is an email from him stating that they worked on me 15 minutes before and I needed to talk to him about how I was feeling. I have had my friends help like this over and over again on issues like common cold to gum issues to the coccyx problem. He has actually been able to check out people for me that I was involved with (business partners, love interests) and actually tell me if they had hidden motives. He only does these things for me because he is watching out for me. So you can do any meditation program, and anything else you want and they won't compare to the Silva Method. It goes beyond brainwaves and simple meditation/visualization techniques. Every other book out there still tends to lean towards the Buddhist Monk ways of achieving the same thing. I think that it was related in Be Psychic Now! that when monks who had meditated for 20 plus years were shown certain ways to visualize, they made breakthroughs that hadn't occurred in the whole time they had been meditating before.

The High-Performance Mind (Very instructive about brain waves, their benefits and the how to's in learning how to lower your brain waves on a regular basis)
The Field: The Quest for the Secret Force of the Universe & The Intention Experiment: Using Your Thoughts to Change Your Life and the World: They fill in the knowledge regarding the power of our thoughts and one of them relates the history of the government remote viewing experiments (I think it is in The Field).

Once someone apply's the methods of Silva Mind Control they become a better person to themself and to the world. One problem those of religion have with Jose Silva's method is they dont know it. If they had taken the time to research their own religious faith they might have found that the two have more in common than they thought they had not.
The Silva Method put you in control, and in the present state of the world today that is important. as Christ said "the Kingdom of Heaven is found from within" so does Jose Silva. We all are in control when from with in.
Jose Silva will be missed for he left this world a little better than it was before he was here.
Jose Silva's method has kept cancer from spreading in me for more than 7 years applying the 3 to 1 method and mental labratory. It is the best method I have found that can be used to control ones physical state by the application of mind control. This method is the true lost form of praying were feelings and positive image's make this world better and better and better and this is so. Thanks Jose.

Those brainless people who diss the Silva Method as a cult are either ignorant or plain stupid. I have long been monitoring the Silva Method for 15-16 years since high school and have come to the conclusion that they're not a cult. They're not even a monolithic organization worshipping one person.

If Silva Method was a cult, why do priests and nuns of the Catholic Church (including several prominent Jesuit priests in my country) practice and even TEACH it? There's Father Justin Belitz, OFM, a high-ranking Franciscan friar in the USA, and Sister Naomi Curtin of Minnesota, both instructors of the Silva Method.

And those who say that the Method pulls people away from God, should see what happened to Jose Silva before he died in 1999. At the time, he became more religious in his orientation and was into exploring directly connecting with Divine Intelligence or God and not just using the Silva Method abilities to change one's life, but more of changing OTHER PEOPLE'S lives. Now, is that evil/sinful/cultish? I mean, come on, you don't ask God to brush your teeth, pay your bills, drive your car, wipe your butt when you take a dump in the john, or watch over your kids, work out at the gym for you, balance your checkbook for you, etc., etc., right? God helps those who help THEMSELVES.

This book shows you how to build a solid foundation for building the life and career you want. The steps are deceptively easy and very effective. But it does take practice, not just reading it.

This book speaks to people who: 1) have some experience with self-help material, namely the Silva Method, and 2) who readily take responsibility for who they are and what happens to them. That said:

The Silva MCM-MD hands you mental techniques to help you engineer your own experiences here on Earth, while actively changing your mental state to success and relaxed power in the process. I have read about 30 different guru authors (e.g. Napoleon Hill, W Clement Stone, Claude Bristol, Tony Robbins, Wayne Dyer, Thomas Troward, Genevieve Behrend, the Carnegies, Jack Canfield, Joe Vitale, Rhonda Byrne, Bill Harris, Hale Dwoskin). They all have fantastic methods and messages. But to 90% of the populace, they have a large short-term bang, long-term fizzle. The reasons for this you learn with any book on The Silva Method: they work on symptoms. This takes extreme effort in most cases.

Jose Silva (and the authors associated with his Methods) is the only one that provided authentic, original means to achieve change by changing your thought process WHILE you do the exercises. No effort. Just a positive outlook inside an unlimited mind. Jose first teaches you how to change your mental operations, AND teaches you what to do with your new effectiveness. He leaves the precise details up to your (newly empowered) dynamic creativity.

To get the bang for your buck, you must agree to the rules:
1. Only do what you'd have others do;
2. Look for ways that 2 or more people to benefit from the change you seek;
3. Keep your benevolence to yourself--don't brag, sell yourself, or try any deception.

Jose is the real deal. With his technique, I have saved myself literally thousands of hours from ineffective work, the literal thousands of dollars in insurance money that I was awarded (thanks to the skills I learned), and literally tens of people I have networked with.

Amazing.

Psychosymatic - "psycho refers to mind and somatic refers to body; the term psychosomatic means the mind making the body ill or illnesses which have been created physically within the body by derangement of the mind." I got this of a google define:__ search. This is a similar definition from my psych book. Any rational educated person knows what this means and is incapable of refuting. So why would you believe that the Silva Method is impossible, yet a cult? Isn't a religion a form of a cult? Go ahead and look up the word cult and religion. They are synonymous. The word cult just has bad connotations. This method isn't trying to make you a God, it's trying to help remove a cloud of ignorance and help you 'see' what is there. If you want to take it to a religious note, to help you have faith in yourself like He does. (Please do not take offense to my use of the word ignorance. I simply mean it as it's definition of having a lack of knowledge in an area in question, like "I'm ignorant of the theories of astrophysics.")

I read The Silva Mind Control Method (the blue book). And initially I was scared that it would start putting God, and Christ into things. Which it didn't, nor did it say anything about how I should believe in A God and so on. It basically stated what we know through science and experimentation and how we can use it to better ourselves. That we are capable of making ourselves sick just by thinking about it. Ex: "Oh my, if i see/hear/smell etc, that's gonna make me sick" We've all said it at some point and we all know it's happened. (Happiness and pleasure are the same, sex alone is ~90% in the brain.) He simply took what is known about our brains and took it to a different level. I appreciated the objectivity of the Method. He respects that everyone has a belief system of their own (or lack of) but that one thing is true in all of us. We all have a brain that is capable of doing amazing things to us, whether it's emotional, psychological, or physical. So why not use it to help us be healthier and happier with ourselves? If not for our own sake then at least for those people around us who care and love us. Either way you can't loose. (But if you think you lost some money, just think of how many times you bought bad food. At least you gained some knowledge/experience)

In response to the reviewer, Olga Loaiza, who said she respected people like Martin Luther King, Jr., Gandhi and Jesus Christ because they helped people and had the strong desire to do so. That the Silva Method is trying to make us, very much unlike them, a bunch of self serving and superficial demigods. I don't know what part of the book has that since most of what I read dealt with using our (once mastered) capabilities not just for ourselves but to help others (like 70% of the method was on that alone). My question to you is this: What if Luther, Gandhi, and Christ made a different choice because they didn't understand something, or didn't 'see' it? Nor trusted their Minds to decipher the signs they saw and knowledge they gained to make the correct, reasonable, or rational decision? What good would they have been to those they seeked to help with only desire if they didn't DO something about it? Again trusting their minds to help them help others. Could your doctor, police officer, priest, teacher, mother or father help you without the discipline over themselves and their skill(s)? How great in their own way and helpful would they have been without self discipline (/mind control)?

Need a "religious" story? Here's one a friend emailed me many years ago that I'll never forget. Noah told everyone to prepare themselves because God is going to flood the world (to start over). Nobody believed him. One of the villagers told him, "I don't know what god you're talking about but My God wouldn't do that to me. He'll make sure I'm okay." As it rained and the water rose, those on boat rowed to him and said, "quick get in! the water is rising we're heading for higher grounds." He said "no, no, God will take care of me." Many passed offering the same assistance and he still refused. He drowns and in Heaven he sees God and asks him, "why didn't you save me?" God replies, "I tried but you wouldn't get in any of the boats."
