5.0 out of 5 stars WOW, September 6, 2002
This review is from: Silver and Black (Audio CD)
this cd is unbelieveable ... truly one of the best cd's i have heard in a while. I thought that the cd 'lunatik musik' was an extremely slept on cd. In my opinion it is probably better than the bootleg copy, as the bootleg copy i have didnt have the best track on the cd 'street money' and 'a piece of me' i have always loved the flow of these lunatiks and the heavy bass lines. Easily a 5 star effort.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old to me but it might be new to you, August 25, 2002
This review is from: Silver and Black (Audio CD)
This Cd is old to me cause I have the bootleg copy which had all these songs and more, but I still give this CD 5 stars. I can't believe it took the Luniz so long to come out with another CD, and I guess that a lot of people felt so as well, thats why there were so many bootlegs of it! Luniz represent hard on this one, and the songs flow together seamlessly. The best tracks on here are Makin Moves, Break Me off, F--k You, Oakland Raiders and Fugitive. This CD knocks, I'm glad they finally released it, but get the bootleg copy if you can cause the other songs not included are just as tight. Much love East Oakland

2.0 out of 5 stars Things just arent the same (2 and 1/2 stars), June 27, 2007
This review is from: Silver and Black (Audio CD)
Who can forget the Luniz? Operation Stackola and Lunatic Muzik were classics. Yukmouth and Numbskull were doing their thing. Then a beautiful thing happened! Yukmouth's flow started to evolve. On his first album he was getting there but with his second album(Thug Lord: The New Testament), which was his best album Yukmouth's became a beast with the flow almost to the point where he could have given the top MCs a run for their money. But Numbskull...... This is where the problem lies. Numbskull's flow hasnt evolved one bit. He still raps the same way he did back in the I Got 5 On It days. I'll give credit where it is due, he has his own style and he killed it on the song No Way off of the United Ghettos Of America Vol.1. He is not the only problem on this album. Yukmouth was rapping kind of lazy on certain songs. So much so that he would take pieces of the hook and use it to finish a verse. Case in point with Fugitive(Armed & Dangerous) and Big Face Escalade. The positive side of the album are tracks like Street Money and F*** You(features C-Bo) are both fire. Oakland Raiders is one of the best city anthems ever made and Closer Than Close which features Dru Down, is all three of them giving you an introspective on their lives. Break Me Off which features IMX and Treach who they didnt even mention in the credits(and that's not the first time Rapalot screwed up. Remember Young Noble of the Outlawz was on Scarface's And Yo which was off of Last Of Dying Breed but they never mentioned him, they just mentioned Redman) is a track for the ladies I will let slide because it was alright. The nagative side of the album for starters why would anybody team up with Fat Joe? A Piece Of Me which features him was corny and so is their failed club attempt Swang Song. Issues(which features Devin The Dude and KB) is stupid and the hoodrat on the end of the song sounds like Mark Curry imitating a girl. You already know how I feel about Fugitive and Big Face Escalade so I wont discuss it and why didnt they mention the last track after Swang Song(you know the song where Numbskull talks about the effects that drugs had on him)? The song wasnt nothing to rave about but still they could have mentioned it the credits. Bottom Line: Silver & Black is not the best that Luniz could offer you. If you wanted to hear vintage Luniz try Operation Stackola and Lunatic Muzik. This album sounds rushed plus Yuk and Num only sounded good on the tracks I mentioned on the positive side of this album. The production was not bad by the way. I think its about time that Numbskull step his rap game up a notch or Yukmouth should stay on the solo tip. It doesnt make sense for your homeboy to surpass you lyrically(like Havoc surpassed Prodigy of Mobb Deep) while you rap like you're stuck in a time warp.
