HAUN-GOOAH (SILVERHORN) KIOWA ARTIST, May 3, 2009
This review is from: Silver Horn: Master Illustrator of the Kiowas (Hardcover)
Silver Horn, Haun-gooah, was a Kiowa warrior as well as Kiowa artist living from 1860-1940. This volume documents and presents his work as well as few others from his family, he may have been the most active and "prolific Plains Indian artist of all time.".
He worked with skill in several mediums: graphite, colored pencil, crayon, pen and ink, and watercolor on hide, muslin, and paper. During the period 1870 through 1920, he produced more than 1000 works of art. The full range of Kiowa life and customs are presented in his works.
For anyone interested in the Kiowas, their life, customs, and especially artwork this book should please. I have had a copy of it since December, 2003, and have never tired of it. Try it, you may find it enjoyable as well as educating too.
