5.0 out of 5 stars The most touching teen romance I've ever read., March 6, 2004
Yes, I know that's not the genre this book fits into. The UFS plotline is pretty standard, but Felice and Tim made it compelling to me. The author takes her time establishing that Felice is pathetically withdrawn and Tim is mad at the world, then showing them reaching out to each other, step by step, until he's softened up and she's opened up. Every bit of it is as believable as it is poignant.

I found myself tearing up so many times. Like the first time they run together. I was a lot like Felice when I was that age, but unlike her, I never knew anyone who was so willing to be patient and giving. And it broke my heart when she didn't go to Tim's 10K event; I could just feel how much it hurt him. For the first time, he'd asked *her* for something, and she couldn't deliver. But it was also, in a way, a sign of how much she cared for him: she stood him up not because she was afraid for herself, but for him. And I loved the scene where he saved her, and again when she got out of the elevator and found him waiting for her. She'd finally met someone more "real" to her than her "demons"!

Read it! But have a box of tissues close at hand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect book, November 5, 2007
I read this book over and over as a teen because it was so good. I still refuse to get rid of it and plan to keep it forever. It's a perfect, beautiful romance- the kind when they go from hating each other to falling in love. Those are the best. The main story about the hypnosis club is fascinating and creepy. The romance is touching. It's just a wonderful book.
