About the Author

Katharine Kerr first became involved in the field of fantasy through role-playing games, becoming so intrigued that she began writing articles for gaming magazines, and for some time was a contributing editor to Dragon magazine. This interest soon led her into the field of fantasy writing, with her first Deverry novel, Daggerspell, appearing in 1986. Since then, she has written fourteen more Deverry novels, of which The Silver Mage is the latest, as well as other fantasy and science fiction novels. Her Deverry novels have hit the London Times and the Australian bestseller lists.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful End!, November 10, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Silver Mage: Book Four of the Silver Wyrm (Hardcover)
This is a wonderful end to a wonderful series. I've been reading it since _The Bristling Wood_ and had begun to fear that Ms Kerr might never end the series! Which would have been good because I enjoyed it so much but frustrating because what if she never answered all the questions?

There is one flashback, which helps wind up several threads. A paradox, that revealing the past can answer questions in the future, but that is one of the ongoing themes of the series.

While Ms Kerr has said that she strives to make each book stand alone, I think most readers would probably get more from this book had they already read at least _The Shadow Isle_ first.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great series by Katherine Kerr and Wonderful assitance from Amazon, April 5, 2010

This series is one of the most intriging series I have read in some time. It has been due to Amazon and its distributors that I have been able to purchase twelve of Ms Kerr's books. One I had to purchase from England. The first one I bought in a library sale some 20 years ago. I love Amazon, it has never let me down. Thank you for all the help. C.I. Deuel

3.0 out of 5 stars Feeling rushed, August 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I truly love the Deverry series titles, but have to admit that The Silver Mage (and all the Silver Wyrm set) left me wanting. It felt altogether too rushed, as if an entire trilogy was squashed together into one book. Because of this the beauty of and involvement with the characters just wasn't there. They became caricatures of themselves. It's a sad way to end such a wonderful series.
