This was one of my favorite books when I was young. I even saved it in a box of special things because I loved it so much. Recently I got it out to read to my 9 year old son and he is eagerly waiting each night for a new chapter. I went online today to see if we could get the predecessor - "Beyond the Paw Paw Trees" and was blown away by the price! I can't believe how expensive these books have gotten - the publisher needs to do a reprint and introduce this book to another generation of children. This is a wonderful, imaginative story and gently told with vivid descriptions. After re-reading it lately with my son, I have come to realize how influential this book has been in my life with many of it's ideas that I thought were originally mine - they obviously became my own!
If you can afford it, buy it for a child you love. It will change their heart for the better!

I want to add my voice to the one which asked the publisher to reprint this book. I read it as a child and loved it. It has wonderful pictures and the story is charming. I have never forgotten it. It is one of my favoriate books. Whoever published this book, please reprint it so I can afford to share it with my daughter.

Palmer Brown is a children's author who writes with delicacy and charm. The protagonist of The Silver Nutmeg is a child who loves nature and learns an understated lesson about love. Highly recommended. The author shows great respect for the innocence and innate delicacy of feeling which most, perhaps all, children possess.

I, like other reviewers, read this as a child and would have loved to share it with my son when he was small. Even now, I'd like to introduce it to the younger members of our family. It was a beautiful story...the original artwork was charming! I would hope that the publisher would offer a reprint...perhaps a boxed set to include Beyond the PawPaw Trees (I never read that one).

I simply cannot believe my eyes! This was such a magical book to me when I was in 5th grade! As adults, my brother tried to buy me a copy for Xmas but it was no longer published! I just thought I would run a search for "kicks'. Been years so I really don't remember the content but I recall the magical feeling & never forgot it! Cant WAIT to order this & Beyond the Paw Paw Trees!!!

It seems many of us fell in love with this book when we were kids. If a publisher is reading our comments, I hope they will re-publish the book.

I agree with the numerous other posts about how this book needs to be reprinted! I loved this book as a child and I would dearly love to share it with my own children but not for $272.00! Does anyone know how to send a message to the publisher to request that it be reprinted? Perhaps we could start our own grassroots movement!
