The must have!, February 10, 2008
The first time I saw the purse hook was at a retail store. I thought it was a silly novelty, who would use one? The more I ate out at restaurants the more I thought about the hook and what a clever idea it was. I went back to the retail store where I had first seen it they were sold out. I had to have one. I found it on line. The purse hook is a must have. You don't have to sit your purse on the table, your lap or on the chair any more. A plus was the mirror on the back side, nice touch very helpful. You're able to check and reapply your lip-gloss and more important you're able to see if you have any lettuce stuck between your teeth. The purse hook really is a clever idea!

Works like a charm!, February 25, 2008
This thing held my overloaded purse WITH EASE. No more floor filth on my purses. I even used it with a gigantor sized Coach bag and it didn't even budge! Awesome! Now if they invent one for wiggly kids, I'll be first in line.

I purchased this in "silver" (not the swivel top).
As another reviewer stated, this particular product would be useless if you were to come across a table more than 2" thick.
However, I have thankfully not yet come across such a table. :) I've been using this purse hook for about a month now, for my purse, scarf, and bookbag...though not all at the same time! My bookbag is at least 15 lb (I weighed it) with my laptop and various ridiculously heavy textbooks in it, and the purse hook has been holding up thus far. The product specifications indicate that it should be able to hold up to 20 lb.
Also, the non-slip padding is fantastic. I held my breath as other restaurant patrons, waiters, etc walked past my table, bumping into the hook, and I was ready to catch my purse in case the hook slipped off. But the padding did its job and kept the hook in place despite all the jostling.
