And Also The Trees SILVER SOUL cd is one of their finest albums to date, Blending the sounds of Nick Cave,The Cure, with a surf style guitars. being one of my favorite bands ever and you will never hear them on your local radio stations or on MTV, If you are looking for something new to buy thats NOT part of the heavy rotation or mainstream give this cd a try! Also check out their back catolog of cd's, all of them are IMPORT ONLY, but well worth the extra cost!

Free your mind from all what you had come to know about AATT or you are musically expecting on their most recent album SILVER SOUL and prepare for a new adventure. At the first glimpse at the unhampered, but somehow familiar Lady on the Cover of SILVER SOUL it is obvious that the new AATT-Album will be follwing more ANGELFISH than preceding works. But if the distance between the various 'English journeys' and ANGELFISH is a crack, so the contrast with SILVER SOUL can be said as an abyss. Like in ANGELFISH the cinematic fifteeth and sixteeth of american dreamshapes are the main places AATT's vehicle is taking you. So you can listen to overdubbed wah-wah guitars, groovy bass swings, faint trumpets and sixties organs - next to straight rock 'n-roll, pure pop melodies, 'Sicilian' serenades, ladies' coffee-party rythm and even smooth electronic-beats. To disorted voices and spoken weird tales. Despite of that diversity, atmospherically AATT once more created a very homogenic album. Simons voice seems quiet unfamiliar on some tracks. Lyrically the short-stories again are taking an increasing part on this album. However the drama in his expression has gone. In the composing view the drums do play a minor part and the music on most songs is now most fully backing the dialogue between Justins guitar-playing and Simons voice. The sounds deeply embeds the lyrics to built a union. I'm sure, with this album it seems a question of time till David Lynch will discover the music of AATT for one of his surrealistic projects: " I see the word 'Firestone' and great movie star faces...Arcades gulp in the new word rising" [Get Critical] Thus this phrase could stand for the whole album. As the musical influences found in the album are more different than on any 'Trees album before, so is the gap between the Low { Jewel Park } and the Highs encountered: {Before the power goes down}: A calm song that takes some time to grow. Smooth instrumentation, but very striking. Sordid band on stage and dusty red velvet nudy club. Attic love, heat, sweat and sex. Play it again Sam ! { Highway 4287 }: Fascinating soundscapes with hypnotically envokating singing. All giving that certain "tickling stomach"- feeling. A great new approach for AATT... In the way someone could say that AATT have finally lost their identity on SILVER SOUL, another one could say they have found a new one. - Dive into the album and make up your own mind ! SILVER SOUL is certainly an another wonderfull journey of this exceptional band. FML [....] |
