3.0 out of 5 stars What do you expect? It's Nintendo!, March 25, 2005
By
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Silver Surfer (Video Game)
This video game is pretty cool, but I find it a bit difficult. In the comic book, the Silver Surfer is nearly invincible. In this game, you get hit once, you're off your board and you die. What happened to the power cosmic? Go figure.

Basically, this game is a shooter like those flying around games where you just try to shoot everything without getting hit. Half the time its a side scroller, the other half it's a top view. That's clever.
The power cosmic comes in a small white ball that blows stuff up. Usually you have to hit things more than once. You pick up what look like F boxes or cards. The more F you have the more powerful you become. You can pick up orbs and now you shoot in more than one direction. You can controll the orbs so you can shoot to the side and back while you just shoot forward. The villians in the game are pretty strange. Firelord is actually a good guy in the comics and has basically the same powers as the Surfer. The Captain Reptile in the game doesn't really look like a pirate. All of his stages make him look like the lizard king of Hawaii. Then there is the Possesor. His level is kind of cool. Lots of classical sculptures. It looks like some corney Stephen Hawking music video. I know he doesn't have a music video, but if he did, this is what it would look like. Watch out for the flying vacuum cleaners in stage two! The rest of the game is too damn hard. You're supposed to beat all the bad guys, collect parts to some machine Galactus has so he can send you to some other dimension to fight who knows what. That sounds a lot like the comic book actually. However, it's really freakin' hard. Because this game is for the NES, I don't think it could be any better. Oh, I think I should add that the music to this game rocks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just As I Expected It!, August 10, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Silver Surfer (Video Game)
I have known for years that this game was hard because the AVGN reviewed it. I bought the hardest games for the NES I could think of, and this was one of them. Surprisingly, the game was easier than I had expected and still fun. I am disappointed about it being easier than I had hoped, but the game is still awesome. The game involves the Silver Surfer, obviously, shooting enemies that are for some reason much stronger than him. You choose between 5 stages each with a few sections, and I once you beat them all, you move onto a final stage. The game is too hard for me to beat, but like I said, it is very fun. I recommend it to anyone that does not get super frustrated with games.

4.0 out of 5 stars The hardest most frustrating game you'll ever love., March 18, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Silver Surfer (Video Game)
This game defined my rage as a child. You die if you get hit once(that includes running into a wall), the enemies are super powerful, and you are weaker than a new born baby. This game is a test of patience and skill beyond anything you will ever play. Also it has a bangin' awesome soundtrack. If you have high blood pressure or have a tendency to throw things, stay away from this game, but if you are looking for a nigh-impossible challenge that will give you great feeling of fulfillment upon completion(aka victory dance around your home), then you have found a true gem of NES antiquity.
