Endearing & Passionate,
By A Customer
This review is from: Silver Threads: A Novel (Paperback)
This is the first lesbian love story I have read & with stories like this one, I will be reading many more. Mel has lost her lover of six years to some young thing & goes home to "get away" from the constant reminders. Little does she know that she will barely think of "what's her name"! Mel's attention is fully taken by her mother's friend, Crys, who Mel was not so unmoved by as a teenager! The attraction between the two is wonderfully written & hot!! I went right out and ordered another Lyn Denison book after reading this one--TWICE.

Solid Denison Offering,
By
This review is from: Silver Threads: A Novel (Paperback)
It took a while to find a copy of this book, and I'm glad it's on my shelf. Lyn Denison has written many books and I've enjoyed all of them. She's a talented author who delivers down-to-earth stories about believable characters. It should be noted she's not big on physical scenes, so if you're looking for those this isn't the place to turn. However, if you're interested in a solid plot this book is for you.
The biggest obstacle I had to overcome was the age difference between Melanie and Crys. There is a 10-year gap between my partner and myself, but I struggle a little with a 20-year or more age difference between romantic characters. I mean, some people have less of an age gap with their parents! That said, it quickly becomes possible to ignore this issue and focus on the romance. Both women have personal challenges to overcome and that is the focus that keeps the reader's attention. Bottom Line - A typical Denison offering, `Silver Threads' is sure to keep the reader interested from front cover to back.

Delightful romance set in rural Australia,
By
This review is from: Silver Threads: A Novel (Paperback)
I really enjoyed this entertaining romance. I especially liked the dynamic of 28 year old Mel and 42 year old Crys being completely enthralled with the other. The setting in the Australian countryside was a bonus, beautifully and thoroughly written.
The writing was so professional I breezed through the novel and wanted more. The reading was effortless thanks to the author's talent and considering it was less than 200 pages I was charmed by the main characters and would love to read more about them. This is a Keeper! from the author's website - Melissa Jamieson decides to put some space between herself and her ex-lover in an effort to come to terms with Terry's betrayal. She drives from Melbourne back to Brisbane to visit her parents. However, her mother and step-father are about to go away for a few months, so Mel's mother arranges for Mel to stay with their former neighbour, Crys Hewitt, who needs help on her fledgling farm. Mel's mother is unaware that when her daughter was a shy, confused teenager, she had a terrible crush on Crys. Mel feels she made a complete fool of herself all those years ago trying to win Crys's attention. Now Mel finds herself back in the life of the attractive and sensuous older woman.

Good for a Saturday afternoon to pass the time - easy to pick up and put down. Very basic, you never lose the plot or forget what is happening. In line with Mills & Boon.

Nice romantic story,

Melanie Jamieson is an artist, she illustrates the children's books her ex partner writes. After the break up of their six year relationship, Melanie leaves Melbourne and returns home to her family in Queensland. On her arrival she finds out that her divorced parents are both leaving on trips with their respective partners. Mel decides to go and stay with an old family friend, Crys, who needs help on her farm. Mel had a huge crush on Crys when she was seventeen. It seems the crush hasn't gone despite the years they've spent apart and the fourteen year age gap between them.
It took me a long time to track down an affordable copy of this book. It was well worth the wait. I like Lyn Denison's writing and this book is definitely one of her best. A nicely written romance. |
