Silver Tongue wasn't about abuse as much as it wasunrealistic. Tuesday Washington is a lawyer, mother of 2 sets of twins, married to Gregory and finds herself in a nightmare she can't seem to awaken from. Gregory Washington is a successful Air Traffic Controller, father and husband to Tuesday. He is riding on a roller coaster of insanity, but why? I found Silver Tongue to be a fast and interesting I had a hard time with Tuesday's character she was too Marlene Taylor has a knack for telling a story and I Missy

Voices in my head,

This review is from: A Silver Tongue (Paperback)
Have you ever heard the expression that everyone hears voices? If so, then you can identify with Gregory Washington: husband, father of 4 and air traffic controller who feels as though he exists inside of a pressure cooker. Gregory or GB as the voices demand that he be called, has waged a war of destruction and terror against his unsuspecting wife Tuesday and their children. He is mentally unstable and does not even realize it.Tuesday Washington, is a smart and beautiful attorney whose life on the surface appears to be perfect. But appearances can be deceiving. By day she is a hard working attorney, by night she is running from a mentally unstable husband who also mentally and physically abuses her. Greg, as is the case with many batterers, has 2 faces a public face and a private face. Because he presents himself to the world as perfect, no one believes Tuesday when she reaches out for help. In A Silver Tongue by Marlene Taylor, the evils of abuse and mental illness are explored. As a reader, you get to experience life through the eyes of a mentally ill Greg and you feels Tuesday's fear and hopelessness with the situation that her family is in. Marlene Taylor has written a heartbreaking but very well told story. Reviewed by Simone A. Hawks

Now this is what suspense is all about,

Silver Tounge has love, sex, tragedy, and shows psycho behavior that rivals Fatal Attraction and Sleeping with the Enemy. The writing is fast paced and gets to the point immediately. I feared for Tuesday and her boys and couldn't wait to see what would happen next. Two things I really liked about this book: First,Tuesday is not a stupid who created her own mess and second, the author does a brilliant job of showing the difference between Gregory, a good, loving man and G.B. a monster in human form. I read part of this book while waiting for my bus and it was so engaging I didn't even notice or mind when the bus finally came and left without me....

Love, Drugs and Life,
This review is from: A Silver Tongue (Paperback)
I must say I really enjoyed this book. The book kept your attention the whole way through. I didn't understand the picture on the front of the book until I finished. The only thing I would have like to have seen happen was to have an epilogue at the end to know who it was that pushed (GB)Gregory down those stairs and to know that Tuesday finally got back on her feet with life. This book was a great eye opener in when you sense problems in a relationship don't let love blind you into thinking that it'll get better one day when that one day might not ever come. I found her friends,co-workers and neigbors were very supportive when they needed to be and stayed out of her business even tho' they sensed something wasn't right. I have recommended this book to every one I know a great night-night reader.

Let the truth be told!,

No words can describe the agony I went through to complete this book for a book club review. This is the worst book that I as well as all members of my book club have read in a long-g time! If I could receive a refund, it would be well-deserved. No character development, poor story line & who cares about the reason for GB's madness. The author brings up characters & other events & situations that are totally unrelated the story line. This book really wrecked my nerve!

The book was fast paced, and covered a lot of topics. Some of the situations seemed really unrealistic, but living in Philadelphia anything can happen. The imagery was clear and concise, and not over baring.I enjoyed this read, it was short and eye-opening. Its good to see a fellow Sista University of Pennsylvania Alumnist, making progressive statements on family issues.

Marlene Taylor's A Silver Tongue is a suspense novel focusing on Gregory Washington, an Air Traffic Controller suffering from building stress. Gregory's 29-year-old wife bears witness to his dangerous mental deterioration in this compelling tale of nightmares, substance abuse, and the impending press of mental imbalance. A Silver Tongue is a gripping and violent story.

This is exactly how this drug makes folks act! Been around a great deal of them, and they become so delusional and out-of-touch with what is really at hand. Plus the moods swings! Unbearable! My only problem with this book, was his wife, any other women would have seen the warning signs right off!
But a good read...

At first, this book was making me angry because I could not imagine a lady attorney being this naive. After a few days myanger subsided, so I picked up the book again and started to read. After the second time, I could not put the book down. I am a very busy person but I found myself carrying the book every where I went in order to snatch a few pages of reading. I enjoyed the book but wanted more development of the characters. Miss Taylor, what about the ghosts? You lefted me hanging! Thomasina |
