Did some researching one evening, looking for a better slot cover over the Dell OEM version. Have a nice little posting of the process, and overall review of the options and effects over at the Dell Community Forums too.

Having a large case, I found that the Nvidia 9800 GT video card was emitting a large amount of heat in the rear section of the card, near the slot covers. Dell's OEM version *does* have ventilation, it was not enough to keep the card cool, and was running upwards of 68° C GPU and 76° PC board temperatures.

Since installing these Silverstone Aeroslot Maximum slot covers, the video card dropped to 60° C GPU and 47° C PC board temperatures.

Note: I use the EVGA Precision to monitor video card temperatures.

System wise, the inside temperature has dropped considerably.
Before with the OEM slots, I would feel fairly warm air slowly coming out the back, and the power supply was blowing warm air.
After the replacement slot covers, A LOT of cool air comes out the back of the video card area, and the PSU is blowing cool air as well. It's almost like a new system again!

The Dell XPS 600 ~ 700 series has large front intake fans that blow across the HDD/CPU/RAM area and another across the PCI/PCIe slots, and can be adjusted on-the-fly for gaming.

Gaming wise, the Aeroslots gave my system new life! The video card even performs better. For $5, it's worthy of every penny spent, and then some.

The product was easy to install and fits most computer cases. Also I noticed a few degrees drop when I used these. Not much but it is noticeable.

It is almost half the price of what Micro Center sells it for, so that's a plus.

Warning though, your computer will get dustier from using these.

These Slot covers do exactly what they were ment to do, they allow openings in the back of your computer case to allow more air circulation.
They provide a more astetic apearance to your computer, and may possiably help block stray rf emissions coming out of the computer.

I think they are a good idea, it makes your computer case look classier and possiably more functional.

I have a old computer upgraded with a passive heatsink video card, but it was very hot at 80 degrees Celsius! So I ordered these to be installed into my computer (installation was easy by the way) and it dropped the temp to 60 degrees Celsius! It also looks more stylish than uncovered PCI slots. I recommend this product. Your results may vary.

Attractive, well-made. Provides the extra ventilation to help keep things cool with my 9800GT video card. Well worth the price, especially when bundled in a free-shipping order.

These are perfect for mounting in an empty slot below your graphics card in a mid-tower, negative air pressure fan configuration. My powers supply is at the top of the case, and my single case fan is below that. These allow outside air to flow right through any PCI cards you have. If you have two empty slots below your cards, even better, use two of these.

They have a nice finish too, and they are rated to not let EFI noise in.

I bought this thinking I would use it with a new passive cooler on my graphics card. I decided to put this next to the card with its stock cooler in place. The CPU and GPU temperatures both fell by 5C at idle and this went to a 7C drop with two vents installed. The system fan speed and noise are now lower. I can feel air being drawn in through the vents, so I think my computer must have been designed with inadequate ventilation.

Fyi, my system is an old Dell Dimension 8200/8300 hybrid with an NVidia 7600 GT graphics card. Now I am reconsidering whether I will install the passive cooling heat sync on the video card.

I have these in an HTPC I built. I was worried about heat in a small case, APEVIA X-MASTER-AL/500. The case has mounts for two side fans but a video card will devide the interior into 2 air zones, The video card/SB/PCI slot zone and CPU/NB/RAM Zone. By adding these PCI slot vents I was able to remove a heat trap that built up in the video card/PCI slot zone. Now the air flows in the side intake assisted with a quiet 120mm fan and out the back along the whole face of the video card. The lower temperatures, about 10 degrees C but I'm not sure, allowed me to drop my fan speeds and as a result the whole case is a little quieter.

CONS:
- They Bend easily

these things look great! if you see the back of your system a lot you'll really appreciate the sexiness they bring to the table. other than that they don't do a ton. dropped temps on my GPU by about 2-3 degrees consistently so they're a good buy if you think you might need em' get em'.

I bought these for my Home Server. It fit well in my old Gateway BTX Case, and allow for more passive cooling to keep it quiet.
Well made, thick metal with a nice "Black Chrome" color.
