4.0 out of 5 stars LC10B review, November 5, 2010

Solid well built case. Some issues with hard drive space and larger video cards. Be sure to buy a modular power supply or you will have issues with too many cords in the case. You will need to add front fans to keep the case cool, as I had some issues with an Q9650 and an ATI 5770. May be able to get away with less with less demanding hardware. Added the front 80mm fans and problem solved. Major downside of adding the front fans is increased noise as well as the hard drives taking up more space inside the case. You will probably need quality quiet aftermarket fans, a quiet CPU heatsink other than stock to keep the noise down.

I run an X48 mobo, Q9650, ATI 5770, 4 hard drives (3 2tb for storage, 1 500gig for Win7), 8 gigs of RAM, Bluray writer, Seasonic 520 watt PSU, 4 80mm Scythe fans on a Silverstone fan controller, and a Scythe heatsink in this case. It all fits, barely!

Overall a great case, but needs a few things to make it great. Namely quiet fans, and a modular power supply.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great HTPC case, easy to work with, April 29, 2010

This review is from: SilverStone LC10B-E Aluminum/Steel ATX Media Center/HTPC Case - Retail (Black) (Personal Computers)
This is a great case to build a HTPC out of. It fits fine in an AV rack. It allows use of full size ATX boards and full height cards which makes things a lot easier. It has lots of internal hard drive bays. The airflow seems good. The fans seem to be of decent quality. It looks great. The simple minimalistic black aluminum face plate looks perfectly in place with other AV gear.

The stick on CD drive cover seemed to work fine and really makes the case look a lot cleaner. I had have had no issues with alignment or binding. The 2 sided tape seems to hold up just fine. There's only one opening though, so if you want two optical drives, you will have to find another case.

The only issue I ran into is that the RAM on some motherboards will end up under the optical drive cage. So you may have to install the memory before the optical. I didn't have any clearance problems, though.

Overall this is a great case.

I am very impressed with this case. There are no sharp edges so I did not get a single scratch. I put 3 hard drives and a dvd burner into this case. It was a tight fit, especially when trying to press down the motherboard power connector over the RAM to make room for the removable metal bracket that holds the dvd burner. I used a modular power supply and am very glad I did because there is now plenty of airspace for good ventilation. I would suggest installing all of the hard drives first, then the motherboard and CPU, and then the add-on cards. Connect everything you can before installing the power supply so that you are not trying to get your hands into extremely tight spaces. I was not sure that the metal plate that attaches to the dvd burner would look good or even stay on and properly align, but it did and looks great! Make sure you align the dvd burner in the metal bracket and secure it before attaching the main power to the motherboard so that you can easily insert and remove the bracket till you get the position correct. Once you know the position is good, remove the bracket, insert the power to the motherboard, and then do what you can to get the bracket back in there. Only when you are completely done installing everything and testing the unit should you install the metal faceplate on the dvd burner. Again, I am very happy with this purchase. Good luck and Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great case for HTPC computer, December 8, 2009

This is a great case for a HTPC computer. Looks great, blends in with stereo system. Lots of space for internal harddrives. But, make sure you don't install a DVD/Blue Ray drive that is took long or it will intrude into the motherboard memory space. The system fan is pretty quite.

Bought this case as a replacement to the Athenatech case, am much happier. Very logically laid out case, tons of room (actually too much for my needs). But lots of expansion options. Case fits nicely with all of my other AV gear and is the right dimensions. Good solid construction, recommended.

High quality, lots of space (as long as you don't have a very long video card), looks good. Can't complain.

Intelligently designed and laid out. It was easy to install everything. The fans are very quiet, and it seems to have good airflow. I use it for an HTPC inside an entertainment center, and I haven't had any heat issues. It also looks great.
