5.0 out of 5 stars Good 120 mm fan
I picked this fan because I wanted a balance between airflow and noise. This fan is positioned over a Biostar Radeon 4850, which has quite the noisy and ineffective cooler. For this build, I went with the cheapest components available, and didn't really get burned (nothing is failing... yet) but the graphics card is a bit noisier than it has to be.

Anyway,...

Bearing Type: Ball

No, this is just a sleeve bearing fan. Contact the manufacturer and ask them. In fact it is printed right on the box! "SLEEVE BEARING". The problem is that I purchased this fan specifically to be mounted in a horizontal position. So what is the big deal you ask? Sleeve bearing fans are not designed to be run horizontally! They will quickly wear out and get noisy if mounted horizontally. Use your favorite search engine to look up the details. Basically ball bearing fans last longer and can be mounted horizontally without any problem.

I learned this the hard way by mounting sleeve bearing fans horizontally. They would become loud and die prematurely even though the same brand fan was mounted vertically in the same case and was still running just fine.

However this is an excellent sleeve bearing fan and will work just fine in the vertical position which it was designed for.

Anyway, as a result, I wanted a fan to help cool the Radeon. I also didn't want it to add any more to the cacophony, which is why I chose this fan. Furmark temps used to be 106 degrees Celsius; now, they're 75 peak. CPU temp also went down by 10 degrees on the stock cooler as a result of the increased cool air coming into the case, though I've since replaced the stock CPU cooler.

But getting back on track... This fan is less expensive than the average 120 mm fan, is quieter than average, moves more air than average, comes with more screws than you need, allows for RPM monitoring (though it's powered by molex), and even comes with a better grille if you feel like cutting a hole in your case. How could it not get five stars?

Edit: I've since overclocked the 4850 from 625/1000 stock to 750/1200; max temps are now 78 degrees. This should change (go up) as Summer approaches, but either way, it's a far cry from 105.

5.0 out of 5 stars I wish Amazon listed more info, May 16, 2011

For those of you that want a little more than the vague description, the technical specs are:

Size: 120 x 120 x 25mm
Power: 4 Pin Molex
Noise: 26.6 dBA
Airflow: 53.24 CFM
Speed: 1200±250 RPM
Sleeve Bearing

I purchased two of these to upgrade the stock fans in my Antec 900 and noticed a lower ambient temperature by 2-3 degrees (celcius)

Noise is ok. Not loud, but noticeable. Can easily be remidied with a fan controller. Silverstone Quality is top notch and it moves a lot of air too. Was not disappointed with my purchase.

I installed this, with a thin sheet of air filter material, to the case of my xbox360. It uses a wind-tunnel technique to draw air in near the front, through the 2 heat sinks and then out the back. There isn't a chance in hell that you could hear this over the stock fans, even now that they are running quieter sharing the load.

Somewhat unrelated note... I love seeing all the 360s with 120mm fans on them drawing unfiltered air right onto the motherboard. I'm sure it'll work for a long time when it's eating all the dust bunnies out from behind the entertainment center, LOL.

Amazon's description is WRONG! Because of that, I BOUGHT THE WRONG FAN! Amazon states that the fan is ball bearing, but the box (in which the fan came in) says "Sleeve Bearing". Huge inconvenience for me, even though it's just a fan.

I ordered two for a recent gaming PC build. I'm extremely meticulous about parts and took a risk with the 26 decibel rating on the fan (which is on the high end for my typical set ups). However, it is easily the quietest fan I've heard for the amount of air it produces. Be sure to use it as a vertically mounted fan as it is a sleeve bearing. Perfect quality, excellent included fan grill, whisper QUIET, likely tremendously more quiet than 26 decibels in my opinion. The 55 CFM is quite exciting and it performs without a hitch at full speed. For 6.99 I dare you to find a better fan for intake, exhaust or internal chassis air flow control.

Put two of these fans in my case and it has brought down both the noise and temperature. Good quality.

Bought 3 of these so far. Everyone has worked great. They move alot of air and are Quiet. The extra cage that is included is a nice addition to keep your fingers and cables out of the fans. Can't beat the price for the quality of these fans.
