DANGER-DANGER unstable game- Save your money!,

Watch out! This Russian-French produced game has the most unstable copy protection scheme I've ever seen. The original dual-layer DVD disc has the Tages protection encoded in the disc. The game loads up about once every 30 tries because the copy protection is unable to detect that the original retail DVD is in your drive. You will be frustrated and then angry!
The few times it has loaded the game is okay- a little quirky but okay. I bought it because the free download demo worked fine and it was fairly fun- even with the software bugs and crashes. I cannot recommend the retail version- the copy protection is a serious and infuriating slap at the gaming public.

I'll keep this short.
-I found the game highly entertaining. -I didn't experience any major bugs that I can remember. -You're choices between Tech and Nature effect the look of Silverfall. -Cell-shading type of graphics were well done. -My only real complaint is that it was too easy. I was a combat spec'd Tech Troll, and Even late in the game I was one-shotting things. I was also leveling up every 15 minutes or so. At first it was cool, but after awhile it took away the excitement you normally feel when you ding in other RPGs. Basically, I would say this is a good game for the casual RPG fan, or anyone that just wants to sit down for an hour and bash things.

This is an incredibly good Diablo style hack and slash dungeon crawl. It's mouse driven, if you like the "WASD" console style interface it's probably not for you but if you like Diablo, LOD, Sacred or Dungeon Siege you'll love this. It runs smoothly on my PCI FX-6200 card. Gorgeous original graphics, original maps and areas and nicely done quests. The skill system is a little unusual with a nature vs technology theme. The navigation system is a little quirky, takes some getting used to but once you get the hang of it it works well. The nicest feature of this game is that you can just jump in and play, the game configures itself with no hassles. The maps are huge and gorgeous. Highly recommended.

A quality RPG, it is not...,

This is a pretty horrible RPG and I've played most of them over the years to know what to look for and not to look for. While I had played the demo and liked some of the features (i.e., side-by-side weapon and armor comparison with what you have on your character versus what you have in inventory, etc), the retail version doesn't play much better than an Alpha or a cruddy Beta build. Graphically, the game takes on a cell-shading style atmosphere which may look interesting in a screenshot, but doesn't translate to smooth game play. The camera has a low ceiling with which you can scroll out too and scrolling in doesn't provide detail as much as it obscures detail. The mouse controls are clumsy (i.e., when you click the response time is sluggish as if your character has the IQ of a rock), your character doesn't respond well to way points and tends to charge off even when you've told him which enemy to attack, the path finding is apparently MIA as instructing your character to walk from one side of the screen to the other requires mini-hop clicks to get him there, and the list goes on. I really did try to play this game for a bit considering what I had spent on it, but in the end, I uninstalled it and was left fairly disappointed. Additionally, I notice some other users had an issue with the copy protection - I can concur that this was an issue before I patched the game, but after the patch was installed it fixed the launching issues for me. Did it fix the gameplay to make it enjoyable? No, I'm afraid not.
Bottom line - looking for a more enjoyable and less frustrating RPG to play that's a recent release? Check out Titan Quest.

Yeah, I had many of the same problems as other people here... sometimes it took a while to recognize the disk, and it was a little unstable... but not rediculously so. And of course there were the long loading times which were a pain.
But otherwise it was a relatively fun game. Sort of resembles a mix of sacred, fate, and revenant. The respawning creatures were a pain - but unlike sacred, they only respawned when you loaded the map. The walkthrough online didn't mention it - but it looks like all the companians have a subquest - tanya for example will ask to see her father's grave once you get near Iz(something?) tomb near the latter half of the game, The elf mage will eventually confront her former mistress (the event happened as I was crossing between the cemetary level and the mountains), and portiz will ask to see his family once you reach silverfall. You'll never have to worry about gold in this game probably. And monsters rarely drop enchanted necklaces, rings, and backpacks, and guns... so you want to hoard these items once you get them. I think the game slightly favors the technological side than the nature side and I suspect that the tech/nature specific companions are the most powerful companions that you can have (gort certain was a powerful melee companion). And if you get weird graphic artifacts, then set the graphics settings to medium. At low settings the game was sort of unplayable as triangles and squares kept on popping up with all spell and dynamic effects.

This game is pretty much another 'Hack-n-Slasher' in the same tradition
as the "Gizillion" of others that most of you who have played games like "Diablo","Dungeon Siege" and most recently "Titan's Quest". Although there are a few features that set this one apart from the others, it's pretty much the same formula dressed up in a different package. Now in no way am i downing this title because I am enjoying it. I purchased this one to sort of break up the monotunous (leveling up) that i am doing in "Elder Scrolls IV:Oblivion"-(Yes,i am one of those who haven't beat this one yet due to the sometimes boredom of the game, and believe me I'm a HUGE Elder Scrolls fan from way back, but 'Oblivion' sometimes makes me yawn). Back to this one though. Graphics are well put together and so far i have not had any problems in that department. The story although not all together original, does have a way of keeping your interest, but the constant re-adjusting of the camera angle that you'll find yourself doing in battle can be very tedious and fustrating. The balance of the game can be unnerving for beginners though because even set on the (Normal) setting you'll find yourself dying way too often than you would like especially when you're battling not only Hordes of enemies, but also the camera as well. Not a bad game..but not a great one either,it has it's moments though. I recommend this one to those who are looking for some time to kill between other titles that you are playing and need a break to keep it fresh. 3 Stars and 'Suprisingly' a higher "FUN FACTOR" than (Oblivion), yet in no way as intresting, addictive or as engaging as the "Icewind Dale" "Baldur's Gate" or even closer to this type of gameplay- The "Sacred" series. -holyknight8

Maps are awful, and the minimap is just as bad. The enemies are spaces on a grid (nearly) and they gain levels with you!! I hate this, because you don't get stronger and move on to another area with harder enemies - the same exact enemies just get harder with you. Thus you could run around in circles killing zombies for 8 hours, get to level 30, and still whenever you go ANYWHERE the enemies match your level... zzzzz.

This seems to be a fairly playable and enjoyable game...especially for the price. It took a while to load on my computer...and the loading times are still bad, but aside from that it seems a pretty good "run around and kill stuff game". So far I haven't experienced any of the problems mentioned by some of the other reviewers.... The camera is a little bothersome, and you need to become comfortable with the map and directional movement, still, could be a lot worse.
So, this isn't a "new" game by any means, but it still seems pretty good for Diablo fans looking for another clone.

The game was really fun and enjoyable to play, plus you get an array of characters you can add to your party. The down side of the game is that it's a bit glitchy on my video card (ati 3200HD with vista 64X). I experienced maybe 2 crashes to desktop from it when enemies were using an insane amount of spells. Aside from that the game has 3 difficulty levels but you don't really get new spells or anything grand on higher levels, everything just has more hp (except you). So the first play through is great second, ehh third, why? so for the overall rating i'm giving it 4 stars

Good fun, but the save game feature is poorly implemented, forcing you to start again in the nearest town with all the same bad guys to fight all over again to get to the target of your current quest. I'd much prefer the traditional true save and death is really death model. Too much effort to appeal to the game system crowd these days, I guess. The performance of this game for loading is also abysmal, likely another side effect of writing it for game systems instead of a real computer. Still, not a bad effort.
