All you need is love & a little magick to help you get some!,
This review is from: Silver's Spells for Love (Silver's Spells Series) (Paperback)
Here's another creative, thematic collection of eclectic spells by author Silver Ravenwolf. This collection focuses on matters concerning the heart. Spells, of course, revolve mainly around sex, romance, marriage, babies, etc. But Ravenwolf also includes spells for the other loves in our lives; friendships, pet companionships, love of self (self-esteem), attracting the job you love, and a spell to send loving thoughts to a loved one who has passed on.She also includes spells to mend broken relationships/friendships, end arguments, soothe road rage, heal after a divorce, or break the effects of love spells or enchantments. She includes a nice spin on the process of drawing down the Moon/Sun -- a preparatory working appropriately titled -- "Drawing down Love". The spells are diverse. There are charms to be made, dreams to undertake, oils or potions to create, baths to refresh in, divinations to do, incantations to speak, songs to sing, empowering chants, candles to charge, and much more. She invokes a variety of deities (Yemaya, Aphrodite, Bast), works with animal/plant energies, and throws in some famous personalities as well (Shakespeare, Lord Byron). It might have been nice if Ravenwolf provided more workings concerning the darker side of relationships -- how to get out of emotional clinches, protection from stalkers, how to break an abusive cycle, end co-dependencies, etc. But, overall, a lot of ground is covered. This book should be taken for what it is...a book of spells, not a magickal primer. It is best suited for those already familiar with the ethics, and the art, of spellcasting. Though there is background material provided on how to work magick, and nice ideas on how to create and bless a love altar or shrine, novices should seek out something more basic on the art of spellcasting rather than just play around with the information provided in this book. Like her other small pocket guides ("Silver's spells for protection", and Silver's spells for prosperity"), you may not find every idea useful. But there's enough here to make it a worthwhile purchase for magickal practitioners. This is an imaginative, thoughtful treasury of magickal workings devoted entirely to the affairs of the heart.

Overall a pretty good book,
This review is from: Silver's Spells for Love (Silver's Spells Series) (Paperback)
Overall I feel this is a very good book. I disagree with the many negative reviews I read. I especially love the introduction as well as the beginning of the first chapter, which gives an overview of the type of visualization needed to achieve your goals while spell casting. Also, she has included appendixes in the back of the book that give more detailed information on moon phases, planets, and color correspondences, so you know the best time to perform various spells. And Silver RavenWolf does make it quite clear that the wiccan rede is against manipulating the free will of others, contrary to what some other reviews may have you believe. This book is written for both beginners and avid practioners of the craft. I would definatley reccomend this book.

Fun, neat ideas,

This book has only cursory guidelines to practicing magick, and I hope that people have at least some magickal background before picking this up and trying out the contents. For those who do, I found it filled with neat ideas. I liked the fact that not all the spells were about getting guys/girls, and instead included other relationships like family, friends and pets--maintaining long term relationships--and getting over failed ones. It's a fun collection of ideas that work, that can be used as inspiration for coming up with your own. Re; a previous review--information on darker stuff, like protection from stalkers, is in the prior book SILVER'S SPELLS FOR PROTECTION.

Now, I bought this book knowing full well I have no need for what was within its pages -being happily married- so I got to take it from a slightly different perspective. When I read them over, I was looking more for different techniques and magickal systems used for the spells. The number of spells was completely satisfactory, and a lot of them were the ethical kind to find the person you were suppposed to, not charm someone who was ignoring you. But I found that the different array was confusing. I also thought a great number of the spells were entirely too involved for someone who might be tempted to use them, such as a teenager. The groupings did help one follow what the general idea was behind certain kinds of spells. But for the most part it seemed that there were so many different deities and techniques used that it was just too busy! I can't recall a single spell from that book. I would recommend it for someone who is seriously interested in using magick to find their Mr. or Mrs. Right and likes the option of multiple techniques. It would also be something really cute to hand out on Valentine's Day. I personally keep it as a reference in case somebody asks me and I know they resonate with a certain tradition or goddess. But overall, I think a little more organization and a little less of everything under the sun would serve it well.

I had the unfortunate horror of being subjugated to yet another trite work of drivel from the "author" Silver Ravenwolf. The "spells" had such an appearance of being "whipped up on the spot", or things $ilver felt didn't make the cut in her other books, that I couldn't help but laugh hysterically at her spells... and anyone who could take this travesty of a book seriously. If they offered zero stars, I would have given it. One star is really too kind. Save the money for books outside the Ravenwolf cash machine.

Well this yet another one of Ravenwolf's spellbooks. I have the other 2 books already. This one deals with love hence the name. Well some of these spells in here do against the rede, which is fine for me since I am not Wiccan. However since this comes from a wiccan author she should know better. She contradicts herself way too much. Now the spells are pretty good.

If you have any sense of ethics, please don't buy this book.$RW keeps whipping them out-- nevemind about ethics, accountability, responsibility.... Most Wiccans do NOT give out love spells... Most of us don't give out spells at all, or at least we can be sure that the recipient has a solid grasp of what they are getting into. This book disgusts me, as do all of her cute little "spell books"

There are SOOOO many GREAT books about wicca and witchcraft out there I certainly wouldn't waste my money again on this book, and I suggest others don't either.
There are many, many books that focus on different spells to try with lots of background information on how to do them corectly, this book isn't one of them. It is a lot of pop propaganda made to make wicca and witchcraft look like something out of the movies. It is full of false information made just to look cute so it will sell, sell, sell. This book is not for anyone who is seriously interested in learning about wicca or spellweaving in general. This supposedly "advanced" book doesn't go into details on how to focus or make your spells stronger, it doesn't go into the operations and importance to keep your spells safe so they work corecctly, and it doesn't go into making your own spells (which tend to work BETTER.) As well it doesn't firmly discuss the ethics of love spells which pretty much go against the WIccan rede. It DOES however make the reader feel like they can just read a spell out loud from the book and it will all work in a puff of pink smoke...which is far from reality. This cheesy book has a mixture of spells, some I would say may be decent IF you know what you are doing but at the same time if you know what you are doing there is very little need for these spells so the book isn't even close to a need. As well, while some spells focus on good aspects others are very wrong spells such as to help you GET that special person you've had your eyes on, which is far from wiccan beliefs even though she claims to be wiccan. She also left out all practical information which is important. It doesn't focus on self growth but on quick fix improvment through her pop spells. If you want to connect closer to a friend or animal, increase your self esteem there are many wonderful positive things you can do without needing to cast a spell. And Love spells are generally considered to be the most usless, and silly spells and when doing a true love spell they should be open, asking for what is RIGHT, not for what you WANT. Most wiccans find that most often they realise they don't have a need for many spells (Especially of this kind) and spells become something only a once in a while occurance because you are the one who changes your life and that starts right with your choices and actions and the spell is to assist you. Unfortunatly this book may seem fun but it it is far from what most consider resonable information. Her different of opinions on love spells is purely pagan but NOT Wiccan and portrays a real, serious, religion as a fun and games, do whatever you want choice. Wicca is a religious choice and like any religion there are beliefs and redes which are followed. It is not 'do whatever you want to do and call yourself wiccan'. Yes some things in religion are personal choices but the building blocks of the religion are totally lost in this book. . This book seems a nice commercial, and cutesy to make everything pretty and oh so shiney. If you truely want to learn about wicca and learn how to cast better spells then you need not do the spells in this book but look deeper into magic and learn what makes a spell work, personal empowerment through weaving your own wonderful spells, and how to improve your spells. Then you won't need a book like this to read aloud from every time you feel you need a change.

I really enjoy Silver's books. This Love Spell Book is a very good buy for the money spent. These spells range from finding romantic, family, and pet love. And if one needs to let go of an unhealthy situation, this book offers good spells to help ease pain. An overall great book!
