What's Wrong With Fun!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Silver's Spells for Prosperity (Paperback)
Alot of negativity amongst these reviews. I think people are missing the point. Lady Silver IS a lineaged Witch and a Wiccan Priestess. She is very knowledgable. You all complain that it's all fluff, and real Witches write their own spells anyway... Ms. RavenWolf is writing these books for the BEGINNER...the person who needs a little help, the "new" Witch who needs a little help when it comes to composing a spell...I use her spells as templates, I never copy them word for word, and if you actually READ her words you'd realize that she recommends people to alter them to their specific goals anyway... And why must the Craft be so cold, and serious all the time...what's wrong with making it fun from time to time? Silver RavenWolf is my favorite Craft author and I will continue to buy her books, supporting her. As she promises, "If you keep reading, I'll keep writing." So if you don't like her books you've only yourselves to blame if you keep reading them.Blessed Be, MoonHawk

narrow mindedness is a crime,
By Jenn (Honolulu, HI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Silver's Spells for Prosperity (Paperback)
It is fine to say that witchcraft is not geared towards money... indeed it is not... what it IS geared towards however is the betterment of your life and the lives of those around you. If that means monetary wealth, happiness, and the various other things countless wiccan writers have listed as spell genres, than blessed be. THe only real crime is that of close mindedness. It is unfair to give the book a bad review simply for it's spell genres and it is unfair to say that anyone who uses these spells is abusing the powers of wicca. There are altruistic ways to use money spells!!!

Good for us trying to keep our budgets in balance!,
By Rhiannon Diana (Minneapolis, MN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Silver's Spells for Prosperity (Paperback)
I don't understand why everyone is so upset over this book. Silver doesn't claim to be high and mighty like a lot of other authors do. This book wasn't meant to be 100% serious and isn't about getting rich quick. Financial problems affect a lot of us magickal folk, and to have spells and ideas like this puts fun and light on an otherwise gloomy and depressing problem. She also offers practical non-witchy tips for financial management. Read it if you want to lessen the burden of financial difficulties on your soul and well-being.

What's the problem?,
By A Customer
This review is from: Silver's Spells for Prosperity (Paperback)
I honestly don't understand why so many people bash Silver Ravenwolf - the books that I have read by her so far have been practical and informative. Plus, it's refreshing to read a book by an author with a sense of humor. As for this particular book, again, I thought it was excellent. She emphasizes obtaining your goals by only harming none, so what's the big deal? One religion that states prosperity and success are evil is Christianity - and from reading some of these reviews it seems that many people have carried this mindset over into Wicca - which is unfortunate. My advice - read it and judge for yourself!

Tested & proven to work,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Silver's Spells for Prosperity (Paperback)
I'm here to purchase a second copy for a friend. I myself have used three of the spells in this book & have manifested several large purchases for our family & banished a sudden debt. This year my husband's business is suffering from the housing market crash (he sells lumber) & we were forced to stop sending our son to private school & start his high school years in a public school. Unfortunately, we were two weeks too late telling the private school & they were insistent that we must pay the $12,000 tuition for the year even though he would not be attending. Once we had decided to send him to public school I used several thousand dollars of the saved tuition money to pay off medical bills from my new daughter's 11 day stay in the NICU. Now we didn't even have the full tuition to pay! I quickly pulled out Silver's book & found an easy spell for banishing a debt. I smudged the house, did the spell & the next day the private school called to tell us that they were making an exception to the rules & were letting us out of the contract. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to develop a better relationship with money. The spells are easy to understand & perform for beginners & quick for seasoned spellcasters. There is nothing that says you can't change words or items around to suit your own purposes, beliefs or situations. I have never felt comfortable with the "so mote it be" lines & have developed my own. As long as you believe in what you are doing, do it with honesty & then leave the rest up to the universe, you will be successful.

Prosperity with a wave of the wand!,
This review is from: Silver's Spells for Prosperity (Paperback)
I purposely choose to read and review this book for many reasons, one of them being my own personal distaste for the cookbook-style of many Wiccan authors, Ms RavenWolf included among them. I believe that the emphasis given to ready-made spells in these books distracts the honest seeker of wisdom from finding the beauty in the Wiccan spiritual path. I think that books of spells offer those in pain or need the allure of a quick fix to their problems. This is not to say that I don't think spells work. Of course, they work, but not because you use this candle or that oil and this particular time of day and chant these particular words. The magick of a Wiccan spell is not in the tools, the chants, the planetary energies. The true magick is within the Witch, nurtured and grown through many years of spiritual discipline. Real magick is hard work. Now you may be thinking: "Gee, Marsha really musta hated this book!" Well you'd be wrong on that one. I can't say I loved this book and I won't say I'd recommend it to beginner's on the Wiccan or other magickal path who don't have any idea what a magickal correspondence is, but for those who have been working the path for awhile this little book offers some easily adaptable and refreshing approaches to manifesting prosperity for the good of all and in accordance with free will. My favorite spell of the book is the Magic Bill Box pp. 146-152. No, the box doesn't make your bills magically disappear or be paid in full - darn it all anyway! In constructing the box, you get a chance to really thinking about your bills, where they come from, why you need them in your life at this time, what lesson are you learning from them. You also create a very special and attractive storage space to keep your bills organized. I'm not a particularly arts & crafts person, but the charm of creating this special box, empowering it as an aid to control my expenditures, tickles the fancy of my Younger Self much more than the unbelievably dull process of logging them into the financial section of my planner and storing them in the back pocket until it's bill paying day. Silver sprinkles practical hints for managing your finances more effectively throughout the book, such as her discussion of "Do I Really Need It" pp. 174-176 and "The Ebb and Flow of Your Money" pp. 69-75. She encourages the reader to really begin to think about what manifesting prosperity and achieving abundance really means on an individual basis. Sure we'd all love to have a million dollars tax free, but what would having all that money really mean to our lives. How much is enough? When is it too much? Is it really things that we lack or is it something deeper inside that leaves us feeling overwhelmed with debt.

This book is very well-written. It approaches the popular burden of finance from two perspectives and manages to make them work together with superior skill. It also ably inspires the reader to create spells and practices of their own. Highly recommended.

Well I think the problem is when they remove the negative postings on these review sites. Maybe the writer doesn't like what people really think or maybe it's the web site people. But anyway it all just makes everyone elses posts not make much sense to new people that stop by to review. As to this book I read it BECAUSE of the bad reviews that used to be here. I didn't think it could possibly be THAT bad, so I got it and read it. I think it was pretty novice and an amateur attempt at trying to make up spells when any real witch knows that you don't need someone to write a book of spells to be a witch. But some kids and even adults probably won't know the difference especially if they don't really know about the Craft. I suggest readers use these kinds of book for a laugh and read real non-fiction books for information if they are serious. Just my thoughts. Wonder if my post will get removed LOL

I love this book and use it often. I see nothing wrong with using someone else's spells when using witchcraft. Spells created yourself tend to be more powerful but sometimes you just need a little inspiration to get you started. I have loved all of Silver's books and read her blog frequently also. My favorite spell is also the magic bill box. it sits in a round cardboard box on my desk in my office. Not only does it give me a practical place to put my bills so I always know where there at but they seem to disappear a lot faster too.

Okay, I didnt try the spells now, but its fun to read. I really dont understand some of the very bad reviews. Whats wrong on making money? So Silver does write for a living and her books seems to sell: I guess the spells work ;-). For me its at least more fun to read her humourful magick-advices, than the totally serious ones by most of the european (german) witches. Take that dust of your brooms and smile!
