This review is from: Silvershine (Audio CD)
Now 90 years old and still playing this was a truly remarkable debut album for the then 72 year old tenor saxophonist, it was named as Jazz Album of the Year (The Times) was the biggest selling jazz album of the year and one of Sony 50 international albums of the year.

The title track was written for Errol Flynn in 1946 when Hamilton was his musical director at Flynns Titchfield Hotel in Port Antonio Jamaica and played aboard Flynns yacht the Zaca.

The album was recorded following a vision while Hamilton was in a diabetic coma in 1989 and not expected to survive. Features David Murray on great form, Mick Hucknall on vocals, Hamiltons brilliant son Graeme on trumpet, Nana Tsiboe on percussion, A classic jazz album.

Hamilton still playing and has recently performed in Cape Town, St Lucia and has 3 residencies in Birmingham UK. He was also awarded the MBE at Buckingham Palace
