1. internal mSATA interface for HD or SSD to replace with CD/DVD/BD player.
2. external USB interface for removed CD/DVD/BD player.
Has tiny screws more than needed and a instruction manual.
Just being careful of your work, you cannot go wrong easily.
It's a gem (literally, having thin gembox outer shell)
kit for this SSD adaptation purpose.

In conclusion - reasonable case for the correct peripheral. If you're optical drive has a tray it should work fine, if it's an Apple superdrive for a unibody Macbook Pro, this is not the correct case to use.
*Just as a side note* I have used this product for approximately a month. The install was smooth but the speed of any SSD you toss in will be limited by the limitations of the slot. I have a drive that is capable of 400mb/s writes and unfortunately the slow is slower than that. I REPEAT the caddy works perfectly but the slot might be slower than your normal mobo hard drive slot. *
Update: the rebate came in. No issues!
First I moved the old laptops HDD to the tray it includes, allowing the new Laptop to Copy files directly off the old drive. I then put the DVD drive in the Enclosure, and the old HDD and Tray in the old laptop adding a SSD as the main drive. Giving a little more life to the old laptop for another family member and removing the need to buy a external DVD drive.
Also I had no trouble with the $5 rebate.
-Easy to install, step by step guide.
-Pretty sleek design.
-Doesn't come with kit (screw drivers/tools to detach faceplate) It'd be nice.

Used this with a SSD I bought separately so that I could still have use of the disk drive when I needed it. Read morePublished 18 months ago by Steven Swenson
Works a charm. I actually installed a BD-ROM drive into this enclosure and it plays BluRay discs over a USB 2.0 port without issues. Read morePublished 22 months ago by Eric B
It's a well designed product. Everything fit well and required no force to assemble. One less star for I think $25 is a bit expensive for being all plastic.Published on July 26, 2013 by Ike Rye

Was very easy to replace my DVD drive with a 2.5 hard drive, and to put my old internal DVD drive into the plastic enclosure, hence turning it into an external DVD drive! Read morePublished on April 22, 2013 by PH
