Product Description

The RAVEN team's continued push to redefine and perfect the enthusiast tower chassis has resulted in yet another benchmark in the RAVEN RV03. With world-class cooling performance from the previous RAVEN chassis models retained by the included 180mm Air Penetrator fans, a rethinking of the interior layout enabled dramatic reduction in overall depth of the chassis compared to RAVEN RV02 while still matching RAVEN RV01's ability to accommodate Extended ATX motherboard and graphics cards longer than 13 inches. Cable management was also improved with a new 5cm thick hard drive compartment to allow nearly all cables to be connected behind the motherboard tray with ease. An unconventional power supply compartment located in the lower front part of the chassis further add to facilitate cable routing so anyone can assemble a pristine looking system with maximum airflow efficiency. Complementing the finely tuned and engineered interior, the RV03 has Champaign colored trimmings adorning an exterior with aggressive lines yet reserved profile. The stand out styling also fully utilizes the chassis's powerful cooling ability to full effect by a set of smartly designed, dual-purpose front bezels that helps to keep the RV03 looking sharp and uniform whether the user is setting up for maximum air cooling or for a silencing build. As a trend-setter and a computer chassis engineering showcase, the RAVEN RV03 has few equals. However, its advanced features are equally accessible that anyone from experienced enthusiasts to novice users will find easy to appreciate and utilize, making RV03 the most appealing RAVEN chassis yet!

The Silverstone Raven-03 is the latest addition to the Raven family of chassis'. Once again Silverstone has employed the 90-degree motherboard mounting to allow heat dissipation in a natural vertical alignment.

Since beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder, I will leave the exterior case judgment to you. I will say that I prefer the more austere look of the Raven-02e and I question why gold was the choice of the accenting color on the 03. The overall form of the case has been altered as well- Silverstone has shortened the case slightly to reduce size and weight. In this regard, I again, prefer the Raven 02e as the new case appears slightly "stubby" with the reduced form. However, despite the trimming, the case can now support extended ATX motherboards- a feat the Raven-02 cannot match.

The cooling of this case in all my research is almost exactly the same numbers I'm seeing from my Raven-02e- despite having one less 180mm "Penetrator" fan. Depending where your video card lines up in relation to the penetrator fans on the case flooring, the case will do an excellent job keeping the cards nice and cool. If you are able to install your video card above the outside edges of the bottom fans (as opposed to the ball-bearing center) your cooling will be maximized. If you have never used a Silverstone Raven case, you'll want to note that the motherboard alignment allows all of the hot components to expel heat out the top of the case without being impeded or blocked by installed components. This allows the case to employ the aid of physics (heat rises) to clear the warm air from the case. A rather novel idea.

Overall, this is a very good case- especially in it's price range. If you find the exterior appealing, it should be a great fit for your next build.

This case is cable management for dummies. Because of the location of the psu and the way the cables face the back and the mounting of the hard drives along the backside, even if you are the worst at cable management, this design will force it to look nice. The drive power cables don't have to make an appearance on the front at all. Even though it lacks grommets that some of the fancier cases have I don't mind. I really like the huge 180mm fans and the airflow. The 90 degree angle is amazing and I really think this is the way to go for a variety of reasons. Airflow is more natural and even the strain on the board is more natural when it's 90 degrees.
I like the way the cables come out the top and route through the back. The only complaint is the usb3 cabling which is kinda odd. You basically connect to the external jacks to get it out the front. I love this case.

How often does a computer case come along that one doesn't compare to all the others - for that would be meaningless - but one can only compare to... perfection? Okay that's a bit over the top, but accurate - this is a GREAT case. Tons of room, brilliant layout, quality construction.

The 90 degree angle motherboard layout makes all the cables that would normally be stuck way down behind the machine, and awkward to access, come out the top of the case where you can easily plug and unplug them. This, combined with the relocation of the power supply to the bottom/front of the case means that the cables can be run almost entirely behind the motherboard, and out of the airflow. The combination of giant main fans on the bottom, and a smaller fan on the top of the case give it plenty of airflow, without being loud.

There are only a couple of things to consider when buying this case:

1. Buy long SATA cables - if you want to route them behind the motherboard for the best airflow, they will have to be longer than the ones normally included with drives or motherboards to make the journey. If you can find SATA cables that angle to the left (when looking at a plugged-in cable from the back of the drive), you should consider them. I'm currently looking for some.

2. Invest in a quality power supply with completely modular cables (the ones where you can unplug all the power cables from the supply). This will make it easier to see where the cables have to go.

3. Remember that this case has a limit on how deep the PSU can be, because the PSU sits sideways in the case.

With those things in mind, this is probably THE perfect case for air-cooled setups.

*Review? Easy
*Cable management? Easy - Too easy. Let your cat try. That was a joke. Don't. Cats with technology are evil.
*ATX board mounting? Easy - Just don't use 90 degree SATA plugs at the board.
*Video Card is a Giant? Easy - There's enough for 4 Giants.
*Radiator? Yup - 240x120mm is possible but put it in before the motherboard if you want it behind the drive cage. Reservoir and pump will need to be in the front drive cage.
*Cold? Can double as your wine cooler - Putting wine in your case is not recommended.
*Hard drive mounting? Different... If you want to use the front cages, I recommend buying hotswap adapters to make it easier (especially with a radiator housed with it). But you can house 5 easily mounted in the back of the board.

*Side note: To mount my H100 rad, I had to use a Dremel to get rid of plastic pins that house the fans. Was really easy as the fan housing is removable.

This case is not for custom watercooling. It's design just lets you mount very large motherboards for the "Full Tower" Name. I'd recommend another case that is physically larger for extensive watercooling unless you want to get rid of the bottom fans... which defeat the real reason you buy this case: Air cooling done the most optimal way at a great price; also very compact for E-ATX motherboards.
