Product Description

To further increase the appeal of the groundbreaking Sugo SG07, SilverStone engineers crafted a follow-up version in the SG08. For the first time in a SilverStone product and likely also the first for Mini-ITX, a 1cm (0.4 inch) thick extruded aluminum was used to adorn the front panel of a chassis. Finished with fine brush surface and anodized, the SG08's front panel rivals the best home theater equipment in quality and style. The award winning and proven features from the SG07 remain such as the Air Penetrator AP181 fan with dual speed switch, easily removable fan filter, positive pressure layout, and the included 80 PLUS Bronze certified 600W power supply. While compact in size at only 14.8 liters, the SG08 is still capable of accepting a healthy selection of full size components. Even the longest consumer graphics cards that are up to 12.2 inches can fit. This extraordinary capacity, along with the cooling power provided by the built-in AP181 fan, makes the SG08, along with SG07, the ultimate Mini-ITX chassis.

This is a great media center computer / general purpose gaming case.

I like the size of this case, it's very compact and easy to transport (which I do a lot).
CBorgan
I'm a fan of Silverstone cases and this one is fantastic for a mini-itx system.

Picked up this case after researching several options for a nice HTPC case that wouldn't clash with the rest of the AV components. I was also looking for something that could be used for some gaming and this case fit the bill for everything I needed. Most HTPC cases are ugly and try to mimic 80's looking VCR's at best, so this one stood out of the group. The system I built includes:

BIOSTAR TH61ITX - Mini ITX
Corsair XMS3 8GB 240-Pin DDR
Intel Core i5-2400
Intel 510 80GB SSD
MSI GeForce 560 Ti

The included PSU is more than enough for this and I haven't had any hiccups to speak of running MW3, Skyrim, or SWTOR at 1920x1080. Everything fits fine and has plenty of ventilation with how the case is setup. I would recommend getting a 90 degree SATA cable for the SSD as it's pretty cramped where the drive goes so that the case cover fits properly. The front of the case doesn't have obnoxious bright LEDs, just a small light around the power button and a small light for HDD access next to it. Beware that the case is kind of long, so make sure you measure the space you will be placing it in prior to purchasing. Why four stars? The case has an excellent build quality and the front of the case in particular is very nice, but the metal cover you slide on and off to access the components isn't as nice and feels kind of short on quality compared to the rest of the unit. I'd give it a 4.5 if I could, but not the whole 5. I still recommend the case though.

This is a great media center computer / general purpose gaming case. The fan was a little noisy with the switch turned to high, but once it was screwed in and set to low, this thing is literally silent. It is an absolute pleasure putting this together with a mini-itx motherboard. The entire cover comes off, so you'll have three directions to attack from, making this easier to setup than my full sized tower.

Silverstone, stop being cheap and do 2 things, right now.

1st, redesign the power cords in your case to either be modular, or shorter, they are way too long for this case, what is the purpose of having a standard length cable for the GPU's when there's zero room for them? even a non-standard gpu only needs what, 4-6 inches from the psu to reach, these things are as long as standard ATX cables, which makes cable management somewhat of a nightmare.

the other issue with the PSU, the 2nd thing that needs fixed, yes SILVERSTONE u better read this and do it, stop ripping off your customers, is...

BUILD THE SLIM POWER ADAPTER INTO THE POWER SUPPLY!

stop making customers HAVE to purchase your separate connector at a premium. for $200 you are basically alienating your customers by requiring this purchase AND not telling them about it till they are halfway into the build. Since this case does REQUIRE a slim dvd-rw *optional of course* then INCLUDE THE ADAPTER!

other than that, this case is great, I highly recommend it. Also, they do not include 2 fan grills for GPU's so expect to AGAIN pay a premium if you want another one, I was highly disappointed when they told me they were gonna charge me yet again for a piece that should come with the case, I will not likely buy again from them because of this. I really wanted to absolutely love this case, and aside from those problems which they have had PLENTY of time to fix, this case would be wonderful, truly a real gem, and a brilliant work of art. I really like this case, but I couldn't quite love it because of their obvious flaws that they make US pay for.

This is 2nd system I've built with this case.
Pros:
- Looks great
- Very quiet
- Small size but can handle full size video card if needed
- Using mini-ITX with msata mounted on mother board. Still two 2.5 and one 3.5 slots to expand into
- decent power supply included
Cons:
- Some of the power supply cables are a bit long. Modular P.S with shorter cables might be better.

This is not an easy build but once complete, it makes a great home theater PC. Only accommodates 1 GPU and 2 ram cards with a mini ATI MOBO but you can max out settings with 8gbs of RAM and a GTX 770. Best ventilation of any mini ATI case I've seen.

I like the size of this case, it's very compact and easy to transport (which I do a lot). I affixed a carrying strap (an old Antec case carrying strap) and it's now a very easy to carry, portable computer. It has a nice solid feel to it, as Silverstone products usually do. The internal layout is pretty easy to work with, though the cables are a bit of a nightmare. There's plenty of room for my components, though if I had a longer video card (currently using an EVGA GeForce GTX470), then the cables would be even more of a problem. Trying to plug in SSD's is a bit tricky, but if you use the intended mounting point (under the 3.5" bay) and cables with right-angle connectors, you should be able to get by just fine.

After building my system, I pressed the power button and nothing happened. I stripped out the components to the base and tried again, but nothing happened. Began trouble-shooting using a second computer PSU and motherboard to test each part. The other PSU didn't work on the new motherboard, but the old motherboard did (when plugged into the SG-08 PSU). On a whim, I tried plugging the reset switch into the power switch connector, and it worked. My case has a bad power button. That is somewhat unfortunate, because I like the power button and would have liked to use it, but the reset button (on the back of the computer) works fine. It just isn't worth it to me to dismantle everything, send back the case and wait for a new case just for the power button. I actually needed this computer for work, so being without would be problematic.
