Product Description

Use this USB3.0 to USB2.0 adapter cable to convert the 19-pin internal USB3.0 header into a 9-pin USB 2.0 Header. This will allow you to connect your 19-pin USB3.0 front I/O port to a motherboard that has USB2.0 9-pin header.

If you're like me, your motherboard either didn't have a 20-pin USB 3.0 port or had only one, which rendered the USB 3.0 header on your fancy new case completely non-functional.

This adapter does exactly what it is supposed to do: Convert your case's (or other 5.25" drive bay part's) USB 3.0 header to USB 2.0, allowing you to make at least partial use of the ports available.

It's not going to allow you to get full USB 3.0 speeds out whatever it is you're connecting, but it will allow you to put your unusable ports to use.

I recently swapped out the case on a old Core2 Quad system for a new Corsair 300R. The new case had a 19-pin internal cable for 2 front USB 3.0 ports, but my old motherboard only had USB 2.0 header pins (9 pins). This adapter was the fix, letting me connect the front USB 3.0 ports to the internal USB 2.0 headers. Installation was simple, and the ports worked as expected. Of course, buyers should already know that this will connect the ports at USB 2.0 speeds. ;-)

Until all motherboard manufacturers stop insisting on placing the 19 pin socket along the bottom edge of the board where those of us that like to run multi-GPU machines, this is the answer even if all you end up with is a USB 2.0 port.

What I find maddening is that if board manufacturers used 90 degree angle plugs, then all one would do is plug it in from the side and it doe not matter how big a video card you use. Kudos to AS-Rock for being smrt about where the put theirs! Are you listening EVGA?

Hard to find product when I bought them them and if you could they were outrageously priced. This name brand version was cheaper then others that looked like they had been assembled in someones garage. Very happy.

Power up the usb jacks on the front of your new case with the pins on an older motherboard..It couldn't be easier..I use Siverstone teks power supply, modular power cables and sleeved extensions. They are all great, trouble free, great looking products.
