5.0 out of 5 stars This CD Is AWESOME
The songs on this cd make up for the bands that try to imitate and copy those other bands. This band has compassion for their fans and enjoy doing what they do. They even greet their fans and even sign autographs for them. I have had the priveledge of meeting them three times within the past year. Imaginary is the best song on this cd. Siren on the 101 is a quick second...

3.0 out of 5 stars a solid commercially appealing release
This Orange County outfit by way of Virginia have been together since the fall of 1998 and even though they are on the younger side with ages ranging from 20 to 23, their music may lead others to believe they are wise beyond their years. They have a sound that draws inspiration from bands like PENNYWISE and NAME TAKEN except maybe with less insincerity and certainly more...

3.0 out of 5 stars a solid commercially appealing release, March 10, 2005
This review is from: Silverstrand (Audio CD)
This Orange County outfit by way of Virginia have been together since the fall of 1998 and even though they are on the younger side with ages ranging from 20 to 23, their music may lead others to believe they are wise beyond their years. They have a sound that draws inspiration from bands like PENNYWISE and NAME TAKEN except maybe with less insincerity and certainly more maturity. What we have here is another take on rock driven popish punk with snappy beats and all-consuming infectious choruses that thankfully, don't sound too generic. Their sound and aura is primed for commercial appeal but they never let themselves get caught up in the void of being just another factory created pop punk band. Instead, they added some fierce grooves and anything but bland harmonies that feature heartrending guitarwork that descends and ascends to expansive heights and depths just before a grand chorus is introduced. These well thought out songs continue from track to track, which create a serious sense of continuity and fluidity. For once, it seems like a band took the time to write great songs in a genre that doesn't allow too much creativity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent CD, May 24, 2005
This review is from: Silverstrand (Audio CD)
This CD is AWESOME. I originally found out about Over it from a Rufio show. I was bored one night and had a friend come with me to see Rufio. I researched a little on Over It and thought they were pretty good. When they hit the stage I was suprised. They were on tee on all songs. All the sounds were catchy but not crappy Good Charlotte pop punk. The songs have substance. I grabbed the CD and keep listening to it. "Shine", "Siren on the 101", and "Waiting" are the best on the CD.

I highly suggest Over It's "Silverstrand". Pick it up now before they get big. I can see them blowing up soon.

3.0 out of 5 stars eh, it's okay, June 19, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Silverstrand (Audio CD)
first off, i'd like to start off by saying that the amazon track listing for "silverstrand" is off. The actual album doesn't have 13 songs, it has 12 (11 if you don't count the intro), and all of the songs are arranged out of order.

As for the album itself, I thought that "Siren on the 101" overpowered the rest of the album, with "shine" and "ingore the noise" being slight exceptions. Overall, it's a solid rock record, but I would have like more songs as good as siren.

Highlights: Siren on the 101, Ignore the Noise
Midpoints: Everything else except
Lowpoints: Chef Yan (it has a good chorus, but the verses suck).

I give this album 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Take A Look Inside, March 8, 2005
This review is from: Silverstrand (Audio CD)
Blending power/pop/punk
guitar driven rock with honest, heartfelt lyrics pouring out of every song, Silverstrand is an album many bands can only hope comes out as smooth.
From the "Intro" to "Partner in Crime," this album flows in your cd player as you uncontrollably avoid switching to the next song. Over It crafted "Shine," as a ballet that's going to leave you breathless while the fast paced "Ignore the Noise" will catch you dancing in your room. Diversity is
one element that makes this album phenomenal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the best, but good nonetheless, October 27, 2006

First off, Timing is Everything is a better album with better songs, secondly I saw these guys at warped tour and they're pretty awesome. It's a little pop-punk but it's good. I say buy this if you're an Over It fan.

3.0 out of 5 stars fairly decent record, April 30, 2006
This review is from: Silverstrand (Audio CD)
this is probably over it's best cd, and the first song is probably the best on the album. the group are fairly strong rockers, but this record is not going to make anyone's top 10 lists. if you like good charlotte, jimmy eat world, etc., give them a spin. ideally just cherry pick the good songs from itunes and forget the rest.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mainstream rock crossover album, June 18, 2005
This review is from: Silverstrand (Audio CD)
I have no interest in hearing anything else this band has done in the past (i heard one song from "timing", and got a headache), but for what it's worth, this album I bought on accident turned out to be a pretty decent addition to my collection. You can tell that this is the album Over it intended to crossover into mainstream rock with, because instead of going with the same tired pop-punk formula, they took chances on complex, more epic and thoughtful songs. A few here tracks and there slightly bring back the talentless, simple sound of punk, but overall, it's a solid rock record. I predict these guys being picked up by island def jam and touring with fall out boy within the next couple of years. Download: Siren On The 101.

5.0 out of 5 stars Record Of The Year, March 23, 2005
This review is from: Silverstrand (Audio CD)
This is the record of the year. Discuss. I may be a little biased because I've met them and they're some of the nicest guys in the world, but the music leaves little need for bias. The record contains 12 songs, however Over It blow through them like they've got 12 more they need to record. Although they're still fairly unknown, their punk rock anthems and energetic stage performances have allowed them to open for some of the biggest names in the scene, and headlining is not too far away. "Siren On The 101," the record's first single, is the perfect example of the infectiously catchy brand of punk that Over It dominates. Over It has a way of writing songs with so much energy you can't help but move, and this record does not fail to capture that energy. If you've seen this band live, you'll instantly recognize "Waiting" and "We Are The Ordinary," as the band has been playing them live for a while. Other notable tracks are "Shine," "Take A Look Inside," and "Chef Yan."
