3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, January 6, 2012
This review is from: Silversword (Hardcover)
I loved Phyllis Whitney books as a child and was excited to read her adult fiction. I read Golden Unicorn first which started out very slow, but then the excitement grew once you got through the first part of the book. When I started to read Silversword, it started out slowly as well. The more I read, the more similarities I found with The Golden Unicorn. A young woman searching for herself and her parents, one parent survives, one is dead. Someone tries to hit her with a car, a storm comes in, everyone is hiding a secret from her, etc. This happens in both books. At some points it seemed like it was the same story, but with different characters and setting. That was the part that disappointed me. Both books are exciting on their own, but I don't recommend reading them back to back as they are too similar.
