4.0 out of 5 stars Just what the doctor ordered
I just recently fell for the Bass. I was looking for a package, since I'm a noob and still have so much to learn. Based on the looks and reviews, this seemed to be the best bass kit for the price.
Like many I was kind of worried after ordering, the contents of the negative reviews began to sink deeper into my mind, but it arrived yesterday and I have no complaints...

3.0 out of 5 stars nice rocking
It is very good looking and it looks more expensive, amplifier is so, so and good for beginners, the only problem was the cable missing in my order to hook up the bass guitar to the amplifier. other than that it is ok.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just what the doctor ordered, December 23, 2008
I just recently fell for the Bass. I was looking for a package, since I'm a noob and still have so much to learn. Based on the looks and reviews, this seemed to be the best bass kit for the price.
Like many I was kind of worried after ordering, the contents of the negative reviews began to sink deeper into my mind, but it arrived yesterday and I have no complaints concerning the BASS.
The accessories however, are pretty shoddy. The bag has NO padding and the strap is thin and actually hurts my shoulder. It would be suitable for a ukulele, not a heavy bass. These are two things I will need to replace very soon...ahhhhh more money....
I also have trouble understanding people's complaints about the amp. I may not know much, but this thing is LOUD and I never put the volume all the way up. I can see it being covered by drums, but i play with my obnoxious nephew on his electric guitar, amp and all, and have no trouble hearing what I'm playing.
The instructional DVD is a bit....weird. I wasted about 20 mins on it...but I think that aside from maybe a scale or two you can get much better lessons and tutorials on youtube.
All in all this is a great Bass for my situation. I am a beginner with my only prior musical experience being with the Violin, along with an ongoing lesson on guitar. I'm picking this up for a new hobby and so this sufficient. Very nice sound, look and weight. This is a great way to transition into the bass guitar!

4.0 out of 5 stars nice learner, March 11, 2005
Great starter for learning bass. Have been regular guitar player

for many years, just starting to get interested in bass. Its very much a Fender clone. Good quality throughout.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm impressed!, January 9, 2007

This bass really impressed me...it is very light and the sound is quite good. It is an outstanding starter bass but has the feel of a more expensive bass. The amp is well small and work fine, but a larger model is really need to sustain powerful tone. I would recommend getting additional gig bag, cord and tuner....they all work but are not of the highest quality...but what can you expect from a packaged deal right?

I received the Silvertone LB11 Bass kit quickly. When I opened the package I found everything in working order. The overall appearance is just as described. The coloring is beautiful. I researched the Silvertone LB11 Bass Guitar before I purchased it and found that it's a Fender P Bass Clone. I also purchased "Hal Leonard Bass Method Complete Edition". I'm well on my way to learning to play the bass guitar. If I ever become a professional musician, I will get a Fender or Gibson.

5.0 out of 5 stars Big bang for the buck, January 21, 2010

This bass is exactly what it says it is. A beginner kit to learn on. No, it won't rival the big name guitars, the amp is nothing but a small practice amp. You can't compare it to a studio/performance amp, that's not what it is. I'm very happy with my purchase, it will allow me to learn to play the bass without investing a ton of money, which is exactly what I was looking for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Package, November 12, 2009

Overall I love this Bass and everything with it. The Bass buzzes A LOT if you aren't careful and if you don't set everything up right (But I guess that's true for every bass), but once you finish your initial set up, it works great. Definitely an excellent deal for anyone starting off playing the bass (like me haha). And easily affordable. Came with everything and then some; I was not expecting a tuner and a set of picks with it, but I won't complain. Definitely a great product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty awesome bass, June 13, 2011

I was kind of skeptical when I first ordered this. I was scared it was going to be some rip off piece of junk, but I was very suprised when I opened the box. The guitar looks amazing, but the plastic on it is hard to get all the way off. Dont use a knife or dig into it with your nails because you can actually scratch the plastic on the scratchplate. The amp is really good. I can hear it very well while practicing.I couldnt figure out the tuner at first but I finally got it. Its very simple if your tuning it to standard. All you do is plug the cord into your bass, but instead of pluging it into your amp, you plug it into the tuner. Play a string and the tuner will pick it up. If the red dot is blinking on the left, you tighten the string, but if it is on the right, you loosen the string. Mess around with it until the green dot lights up. The DVD isnt too bad for a freebie, it tells you how to properly maintain your guitar and gives some good pointers. The gigbag has no padding, so its not very protective so I recommend getting a padded case. The music I play is rock and hard rock/metal. My 2 favorite bands that I like to play on bass is nirvana and avenged sevenfold. When this bass is tuned right, it sounds amazing. Bottom line, If youve just gottin into bass or you want to play a second instrument, this is a great buy.

For the price, you can't go wrong. Initially there was a bit of a buzz to it but after a little neck adjustment, I managed to get it to sound great. I do own higher end Bass's and wasn't expecting much from this one, just something to tote around, but it is nice to play and I find myself using it more than I had expected to. I would absolutely recommend it.
The amp is adequate and just fine for practice. The initial buzz I experienced was minimized by just using a better cord. The one in the package is a bit chincy but again, at this price you can't expect too much.
When my package arrived the tuner was broken. I contacted the seller and they promptly sent me a new one. Very professional & courteous service, I was impressed and will be happy to order through them again.
The video is insightful and has some good pointers. The methodology is good and will have you playing quickly.
The only thing I would recommend is if you plan on travelling with it I would get a gig bag too. The one it comes with is real cheap. It is just a single layer of material with a zipper on the bottom. I don't like how it loads and it will not protect your instrument. It will only make carrying it around a bit easier. I would rather have gotten an extra set of strings rather than the bag but again, for the price, it's still more than could be expected.
If you are just starting out, or need a decent backup, this Bass will not disappoint you. Good luck & enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, August 7, 2008

The photos on this page does not do the product justice... after I got it I was like WOW! this thing looks cool! It is in perfect working condition and everything is as expected. The gig bag sucks though. There is zero protection or whatsoever provided... but the strap ain't too bad. The connecting portion could be made of better material... but it will last a few years from my guesstimate. The amp, like they said, ain't got much kick... but when they specified it to be a practice amp, why would you want more? If you are in your room or practicing with your buddies, why do you need to have the whole neighborhood listen in? Over all, it's a great deal for a nice product... and that fuzz people talk about on the fret? That's called n00bness... it's a beginner's common mistake, something you stop doing after some practice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Definately glad I bought this!!!!!, December 3, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Great purchase. Great price and worth it too. It's not a 5 star, but easily more than an average three star. I'm a Bass noob, so I didn't want to spend a life savings on a new toy that I may or may not continue. I'm gonna try and break down the details:

Shipping: Fast and efficient

Packaging: Could use some work. Whole product came in one package. Nice and convenient, however the internal box the guitar came in was falling apart. No problems with the bass though. Pleny of padding inside, so it worked out.

Guitar: Sturdy, beautiful, and high quality look. Not a single flaw whatsoever. Not too heavy, but not too light. I had a friend check it out. He said it was a great bass, especially for the price. He has been playing bass for about 20 years, so he knows what he is talking about.

Strap: Sturdy, does the job. Though, once or twice the strap does slip off as you are putting the guitar over your head to put it on. Just watch for that and no problems.

Amp: Loud and clear. No issues at all.

DVD: Good for about 20 minutes then its a good iten to gather dust.

Picks: Haven't even used them. No comment.

Tuner: Works fine. Gets the job done. Easy to use. Pluck a string, Look to make sure the light that matches that string lights up and see if it's flat, tuned, or, sharp. Done.

Cable: It's a cable, I hear clear sound out of amp, must be working fine.

Gig bag: Good for keeping dust off. Not padded.

Hope this helps people. None of the negatives are meant to scare people off, just to inform. Not a perfect product, but still worth the price for the beginner.
