I've been trying to seriously begin playing the guitar for a while, and I bought this one in hopes that spending money on an electric would motivate me more than just using the acoustic that I never had a rapport with. I bought this Silvertone as a starter kit, just looking for something solid and inexpensive. I settled on this one because most of the other guitars in the price range were Austin Bazaar, and Austin Bazaar seems to make very low-quality starter kits in hopes that people who don't know better will buy them.

This guitar has done exactly what I wanted, I can't stop playing it. It comes with everything you need as a beginner--it's already stringed (with light gauge strings, which are good to start with), has a spare set of them as well, picks, amp, tuner, and cable. The only thing you could possibly want added would be a distortion pedal, but a beginner has bigger things to worry about.

I have had no problems at all with the guitar. It is solid and well-built, very satisfying to play. This is probably the best deal you can find on a starter kit.

hi, i am not a very good or expert guitar player. I am sort of advanced beginner. I found this product value for money. Also, few of my really expert friends played this guitar and they also liked it and it sounded good.
In short i would say its a good value for money (119USD) with free shipping. It includes everything one needs to play in a small informal group of friends or for learning.
you may change the strings and in my personal opinion a new beginner should go for this kind of electric instead of acoustics as they are somewhat easier to play compared to a basic/cheap acoustics.

I purchased this for my son, who is 10. He has an acoustic guitar, but wanted to move on to the electric. I had looked at the Fender guitars that were being offered as a kit. The price tag was a tad bit too high for me (we bought this on sale for $100).

Shipping was fast, the product came in a brown box, well packaged. The tuner is junk. We had to do some adjustments right out of the box, but not really a big deal. The high E strings continually were breaking, so we upgraded to Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings and we have not had a problem since. The sound is nice. The amp is a perfect size for having in a home (it is still too loud for me sometimes).

This is a great guitar package for a kid. He can ding it, drop it and do whatever and as a parent feel better knowing that I didn't shell out 200+.

Purchased this for my 9 year old son whose taking guitar lessons. He has an acoustic but his music teacher said that he was ready to start learning on an electric. His music teacher checked it out and basically said it was a pretty good deal.

He had 2 complaints about the guitar:
1. the cord they give you with the guitar is pretty cheap, but you could pick up a decent one at any music store for around $10
2. plastic holder at the top of the neck was pretty flimsy and he took it off and said it looked better without it.

All in all a good next guitar, since he's gotten the electric he practices more.

A present for my 17-year old for Christmas. No-one wants to spend a lot on something soon forgotten so this guitar kit is perfect. Affordable enough that you can afford to upgrade once it's outgrown. It comes with everything needed to get started and is better quality than a lot of the beginner guitars I saw in stores. The amp has more power than other kits and the electronic tuner is a plus. We had no problem getting the guitar tuned properly - it stays in tune just fine - any new guitar has to 'settle in'. My son plays it every day, which has inspired several of his friends to get their own guitars and learn to play.
Note: The amp cable had a short but Amazon took care of it promptly.

Silvertone guitar and amp played great AND the amp has a headphone jack as well as an input to play along with my iPod. Very cool feature!

Bought this for my son's 9th birthday and wasn't sure what to expect due to the mixed reviews. All I can say is WOW! This guitar is of great quality and for the price you can't go wrong. I do have one complaint and it is not about the product- I paid for overnight shipping and expected to receive it the next day (why would they advertise it if it's not the case??) WELL, the item description states that the item will be ready to ship in 3-5 business days. I ordered it on Friday and received it Tuesday; not too bad, but when you're told it will arrive the next day, it should arrive the next day.

This guitar is Great. I love playing it. It has a wonderful sound. And the accessories it comes with are good for anyone who is just starting out.

This guitar I bought for my brother (who's 16) as a christmas present. He's been really wanting to learn how to play the guitar, but never had a guitar to practice on. We opened and tune it up and he's been having fun with it ever since. It does fall out of tune a little easily, but so oes any beginner guitar, just re-tune it before you play. It makes for a great beginner's guitar and looks great too.

Last year I had gotten my teen son a acoustic guitar,but like all teens he wanted a electric guitar. This packages is just what any mom could ask for it includes the amp and the cord tuner so that every note that is played sounds just as sweet as the first.
