Using all the strategic decision-making skills you learned from the other Sim games, you'll start with a tiny, newly built park with only a few rides, games, and concession stands, and try to turn it into an thriving must-see attraction that people will come from far and wide to visit. Of course, if this is your first simulation game, you'll still do fine--it'll just take you a bit longer to get the hang of it.
There's plenty to do: train the staff, take care of prices, maintain trails, and (of course) build new rides. One of the many clever features of Sim Theme Park is the "visitor's perspective" view that allows you to ride the rides and meet the staff as if you were a guest. This can be helpful for getting insight into why people are staying away from the Regurgitator or some other new ride. Better still, you can go online and visit preconstructed theme parks--and a little bit of corporate espionage goes a long way. Once you're feeling secure and a little cocky, post your own parks online and wait for the accolades to start rolling in.--Rob Lightner

Good, but no RCT,
By "themandgman" (Minneapolis, Minnesota) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sim Theme Park (CD-ROM)
Sim Theme Park is Bullfrogs answer to the crown that was stolen from them by Roller Coaster Tycoon ( Bullfrog made the FIRST theme park developer game Theme Park) and comes close but falls short in many ways. First the good stuff, STP has a fantastic graphic engine which makes the rides look fantastic. The ability to ride the rides you make and walk through your park is a major plus. But, the bad part is that the game lacks depth. Beat the first park and the game is basicly over, you get 3 new parks but there just the same rides with diffrent looks. The game requires a 3D card and some hefty space on your computer to run some what smoothly. If your looking for a great game, with more options and fun, that can run on your computer no matter what go with Roller Coaster Tycoon and youll be hooked and love every minute of it. By the way, dont pay 40 bucks for it either, id sell my copy of it, without the box, just instructions and game for 20 or less. Only get this if your a diehard theme park fan or are looking for a couple hours of graphic bliss.

Almost, but not quite good enough,

Sim Theme Park is a good game but the Sim games have met their match in this area with Roller Coaster Tycoon. The gameplay, graphics, and every thing else is nowhere as good as Roller Coaster Tycoon.

Good and Bad but not 'The Best',
By Andrew Powell (Grand Rapids, Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sim Theme Park (CD-ROM)
SimTheme Park is beautiful to look at, and its ability to let you RIDE your rides (and walk around your park with a camcorder) is cooler than cool, but if you've played Roller Coaster Tycoon (and LOVED it, as everyone who's ever played it does), then you'll be sorely disappointed in this game. Players won't be able to rotate the play area or customize their rides to anywhere NEAR the level of detail Roller Coaster Tycoon employed, and the gameplay, while pretty, is pretty slow; even on GOOD computers with 3D cards.
