5.0 out of 5 stars SC2K is a blast, Streets ain't too shabby either
SimCity 2000 is one of my favorite games. The graphics are decent and the gameplay is pretty well done.

Streets is pretty much just a shoot-em-up game where you drive through SC2K cities. You do have an objective, though, and that is to collect and deliver packages throughout the city (done so by running over the correct spot).

3.0 out of 5 stars SimCity rules, but Streets isn't what you think
...Now on to Streets of SimCity. This game stinks. The graphics are bad, and though you might think driving through your own SimCity 2000 cities is cool, it's not. The main premise of this game seems to be shoot-em-up driving, though there is a mode where you can just drive. Compared to games like Midtown Madness, it is one of those games that Maxis slopped together...

You have several vehicles to choose from, some hold more packages, some have more weapon mounts, some are faster, some are cheaper. You also have some limited skinning abilities for those vehicles.

Yes, "weapon mounts". You have several weapons to choose from, including missiles, chain-guns and mines. You also have armor, shields and a "hopper" (makes the car jump up in the air) among other things.

Multiple engines and tires are also available. Some tires have better grip, some last longer.

You do take damage once shields and armor wear out, your weapons run out, tires wear out and you can even run out of gas. Pretty much everything can be "restocked" on the fly by running over items laying everywhere or you can pull into a gas station and select various levels of service.

You have three opponents. The hunters are simply out to kill you. The carriers are competition, they can grab packages to keep you from getting them. There are also cops who will ticket you. All of them can be destroyed; they take damage the same as you do.

What I like is that you can even destroy the buildings.

You can load your own cities but you're not likely to be able to recognize them anyway. You can also load SimCity Classic cities though you'll need to run them through SC2K first (load and save) to do so. Graphics are very poor for a 3D game but this was written to run on a low-grade computer.

The commercials on the radio and the package contents (stated when you pick one up) are bound to remind people of the humor involved in most SC products.

All in all, it's not a bad game but it is well below what you might expect from typical race-n-shoot games.

Unlike the other reviewer, I'd say get Streets instead of SimCopter. I'm no gamer, but I beat SimCopter in a couple of hours. After that, it just got tedious. I had more fun in SimCopter playing with the cheats than with the game.

Overall: If you can't find SimCity 2000 alone, buy the bundled SimCity 2000/SimCopter pack. Don't even think of getting Streets of SimCity unless you like throwing money down the drain.
