5.0 out of 5 stars A Few Bugs, but Well Worth It! April 2, 2012
Verified Purchase
I bought this game because I had lost my copy of SimCity 3000 for my PC, and I am VERY satisfied with it. Although it takes some practice with the taxes and expenses, this game is very well worth it. You can build the city of your dreams; however, the map sizes are very limited, so you do NOT want to plan a huge city. The UI is very good, very little complaints there, but there are plenty of downsides to this app. The first thing is the water bug. You will constantly see the message, "Sims not crying-not enough water for tears" or something along those lines scrolling on the bottom of the screen. This does not affect gameplay at all, unless your new to the game. Another issue is that the game will sometimes freeze for a few seconds. This is more of an annoyance if anything, but this has caused the app to force close on me ONCE. The most annoying glitch is that it is virtually impossible to scroll while placing pipes, roads, power lines, etc without placing them. This gets on my nerves because once you place something, you cant get your money back even if you demolish it.
Overall, this app is amazing quality for a simple e reader like the kindle fire, but then again, the kindle fire is more than just a simple e reader. If EA were to pay more attention to their apps they develop and patch them more often, then this game would be one of the best apps on kindle fire.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed December 25, 2012

I bought this ap when I had a kindle fire (the original). I absolutely loved it and for the fire, it's a GREAT AP. It is a lot of fun and a really consuming game to get lost in for awhile.

I received a Fire HD today and loaded it up and searched for this ap in my cloud. I couldn't find it and felt really disappointed. So I logged online with my laptop and looked here and lo and behold, it's no longer compatible with the HD. Because of that, I lowered my rating. I hope that EA releases an update to make this compatible with the newer market.

5.0 out of 5 stars works well with a couple bugs January 17, 2012
By Dalka
I've been playing this game for a while now. I have the kindle fire version. It plays like the original and is lots of fun. It does have one major bug that other people have mentioned already. It keeps warning you that you dont have enough water for the city even if you have plenty. I built an insane number of water pumps before I figured out this was a bug. You have to use the query tool to check the pumps and see if they are running at capacity or not. I finally figured out my pumps were only using 5% of their capacity because I had built so many. The warning doesnt seem to affect game play. The sims still move in and the city keeps expanding so long as you make sure you have enough pumps.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great looking, could use UI touch up November 22, 2011

Bought this on the Kindle Fire and was very impressed with the graphics and the amount of options they put in. The only minor issue is its a little difficult to build. No scroll while you build say roads for instance. Overall well worth the money though.

2.0 out of 5 stars This app is not permitted to install on non-Kindles December 11, 2012

Having enjoyed SimCity over the years, I was excited to finally play it on a tablet device. After checking Google Play and Amazon Appstore, I saw that both stores had it, but Amazon's price was $3.99, whereas Google was offering it for two dollars more.

So I installed it. It felt like SimCity all right, but the music, unlike the wonderful compositions done by Jerry Martin in previous versions, seemed dry and uninspired. And, despite being designed for tablets, the UI felt pretty cramped. So after a few days of building up a city to about 200k in population, I lost interest.

A few months later, I got a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. With its larger screen, I was excited to give SimCity Deluxe another go. Alas, the Appstore told me it was "not compatible". I was annoyed, but compatibility issues happen. I forgot about it for about 5 months.

Recently, I got a Nexus 10. Now, surely, whatever hardware shortcomings the previous tablet had were easily made up for now. But once again, even this was "not compatible". The Amazon Appstore's web site revealed the ugly truth: of the 10 Android devices I owned, the only ones that were "compatible" were both Kindle Fires.

Folks, that's not a compatibility issue. It's a content restriction issue. Had I known this up front, I would have paid the two extra dollars to Google and gotten their version, which runs on any Android device. As it is, I feel kind of ripped off. Don't get me wrong: I'm grateful for all of the FAOTDs Amazon has given me over the years, so I can easily overlook this. But unlike the FAOTDs, I paid for this one. The least they could have done is warned me that at that price, the app would only be allowed to run on Kindles. Or better still, offer that version alongside a version that would run on any device and let the users device which one best suits their needs.

I contacted Amazon regarding the compatibility with my Fire HD and the response I got was it works with the first generation of Kindle Fire but it does not work with Kindle Fire HD.

Am sure they are working on making it compatible with the Fire HD but no idea when it will be available. Will update my review when it is compatible with the Fire HD. I'm anxiously waiting myself.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome game. no problems March 21, 2013

This game is awesome on the kindle fire. I have not had any trouble with the water shortages everyone else has had. As far as budget complaints don't raise your taxes....lower them and people will come to your city and will increase your revenue. I went from high taxes and low pop. and deep in debt to a high pop. low taxes and maxed out funds for roads, police, schools etc. and still have money coming in. Awesome game!!!!!!!

Kindle Fire HD?
It worked on my regular fire, but it won't give me the option to download to my HD 8.9, no idea why.
