The listing says that it has a 1000 mA capacity. The box with the converter says 600 mA. It did not work for what I needed it to do and I had to return it.

As another reviewer has noted, the unit I received had a 600mA rating which would be consistent with what I expect for a device of this size. It was plenty for my purposes and the device worked great. Since I just bought one that worked like total crap, I still had my equipment out to test this thing in lab. Produces clean 13.0V all the way up to the advertised 600mA draw and even a bit over, though at some point the device cuts power (which is what it's supposed to do).

Giving a 4-star because of said disparity between specs. In defense of Amazon I think this may be due to a change in revision. The unit I received had a green LED to indicate it was plugged in, while the picture on Amazon does not show that. Perhaps at one time this device was rated for 1A.

I take this unit travelling with me when I don't want the weight and bulk of an extra AC charger and its long, entangling cords. The PowerMax fits neatly into a pocket and comes in handy when you want to charge your phone and don't want to make a trip to the car.

This is very nice to have around, even if you don't need it now, because you'll need it some time in the future. I have used it for my Cell Phone, GPS Receiver, Rechargable Battery Charger and I have even used it for my 400W Inverter.

This performs as advertised, but be careful on what you intend to use this for. The current output is very low - 500mA. I planned to connect the coleman air pump that needs some 5A current :(
I wish they also had a USB power-only output on this.

I was hoping this would work with some props I made for Halloween. An adapter I had in the past worked fine, but this one doesnt have enough amps to support the dc motor. It works fine for what it was developed for, phones, ipods, etc. It looked like the one I had that worked. So, nothing wrong with this product, just wasnt what I needed.

Excellent product, does everything I hoped. The only issue that I have is that my car jack is a little loose inside, but that could be from my zune and not the converter. I use this for my zune and my cell!

I bought this adaptor to charge my TomTom GPS while on trips without a car. Most of the TomTom 110V charges were $30-40, so this would be a much more inexpensive soluction and would allow other 12V charges. I had no problem charging the GPS with this device.

This power converter is very much worth the money. I was needing to convert ac to dc so I could plug in my fm transmitter inside my home in order to listen to my mp3 player inside and not only in the car. This worked very well, allowing for this operation. I plugged my transmitter into the converter and then connected my mp3 player and it easily played over the digital radio in my home. I fully recommend it.

I got this converter solely because it claims to have 1000ma capacity, as I had previously ordered one that was not powerful enough, and it had 500ma capacity. However, whenever I got the package, right on the box it tells you never to exceed 600ma for this converter. It does not have 1000ma capacity, they are lying to you.
