Just wonderful,

The picture and description you see on this page are for Sima ST-10T, but you will actually receive Sima ST-10K, which is even much better. It is a very comfortable and tiny tripod. Ball-head is the biggest improvement since ST-10T and it works great. Quoted from official site:
The ST-10K features a quick release, universal screw-on mount, adjustable swivel head, extendable legs and a carrying strap. There’s no better mini on the market and no better support for your camera. (agree with this last sentence, can add only that the price is also the best out there) Specifications Swivel head 2 section legs Aluminum Rubber feet Quick release 6.75” extended Picture: http://www.simacorp.com/image/hires/ST-10K.jpg

Portable, very adjustable, perfect for a compact camera,
This review is from: Sima ST-10T Mini Tripod (Electronics)
I have a Minolta Dimage Xg, and I got that camera largely because it is so portable. Since the tripod is so small, but yet with telescoping legs, its pretty portable to carry around with the camera (its a tad heavy, but its totally worth that, imho). I got it since a tripod is great for group shots, and is perfect for those no-flash shots where you need the camera still for a good 5-6 seconds (afaik, this is needed for most compact cameras). In particular, the Minolta camera takes great non-flash shots, esp. in low-light areas.
What I love most about it, is that the tripod adjusts to a variety of needs -- the camera rotates easily, can be titled to lean back & forth, and can take vertical shots too. My tripod is just knotted into the belt loop of my camera case, so they go very well. All in all, I see this as awesome value for the 10 bucks or so it costs -- it'll improve your most memorable pictures by at least 200%!

I didn't expect this tripod to be so tiny. I read the information on it but imagined something else. It is MINI. It's great for taking stable images on a table for something like ebay, for example, or for using in the house for timed shots. However, I have to get another one for outdoor shots. I'd give it a 5 if I hadn't expected it to raise up higher than it does.

Excellent portability, difficult stability,

This tripod is helpful for needing to get close to the ground of your photography subject and has an incredibly low height. The quick release shoe is easy to use and attach to a camera. It has the capability to extend out to a 90 degree angle to the ground if your camera is looking down on an object, but this makes the tripod unstable if used with anything other than a very, very compact camera. The tripod is very small and lightweight, and fits easily into the front pocket of a midsize camera bag.

This tripod is well made for the price, and very convenient for small cameras. I found that it may have some difficulty holding a camera with an off center tripod socket like that found on the Canon Digital ELPH 500 camera. But, this is only an issue when the ELPH is orientated in the vertical position and tripod legs fully retracted. Other then that it's worth every penny.

Nice unit,
This review is from: Sima ST-10T Mini Tripod (Electronics)
I ordered the ST-10T and received the -10K which isn't even listed on Sima's web page. The difference seems to be the addition of a small ball head that greatly improves an already nice unit. Addition of quick release base and carrying strap also noted. Fits nicely into back pocket or small camera bag.

This little thing is extremely useful and versatile. Some camera cases would even hold it with the camera itself. One feature I would have liked to see is a metal ball head, so I could adjust the angle of the camera easier. It can still be done without the metal ball head, since each leg is retractable, but it would have been easier with the ball.

Good TriPod, no ball swivel,
This review is from: Sima ST-10T Mini Tripod (Electronics)
Just wanted to clarify... your camera's field of vew will NOT be adjustable when using this TriPod, because there is no center ball attachment.
One reviewer reported "you will actually receive Sima ST-10K," which has a ball head mount. I assumed that I would also get this substitution, however I did not. As indicated, I received the ST-10T without the ball head. And because I was looking forward to the ball adjustment, I found myself frustrated with this (non ball-head) model. In outdoor scenes, I had to search for a reasonably level surface that was at the proper height, in order to properly place my tripod/camera, because you can not adjust your camera to raise or lower its field of vision, since there is no center ball on the tripod. If you want to be able to raise/lower your camera's field of vision once the tripod is set up, you may want to choose the ST-11K.

Basic, compact, easy-to-use mini tripod. Perfect for
taking closeups of stationary objects with an ELPH when you need greater stability than you could get holding it yourself.

not bad for free,
This review is from: Sima ST-10T Mini Tripod (Electronics)
I bought this tripod with an amazon certificate so i basically got it for free. so for free, what the heck, it's not bad. i was hoping it would have a swivel tilt on it though and it doesn't. so it isn't too useful. but it's cute. i ended up giving it to my son to play with.
it's not a serious tripod by any means. |
