Just wanted to say that my son was premature and had severe reflux and allergies to the milk protein. This formula was better than any other, even the Neocate. Just a side note, the liquid formula IS different than the powder. The liquid formula doesn't contain corn solids and the powder does. I had my son on the powder and he would arch and pull away after two ounces (his twin sister could take about 5-6 ounces at this point and his weight was much less than hers). I switched to the liquid and he sucked it down like he hadn't eaten in months. It's very expensive but totally worth it in our circumstance! The only reason it doesn't get five stars is b/c, yes, it has a horrible smell... but he likes it so I don't really care what it smells like!

Your lips and mouth might start to itch, burn, or puff up slightly the moment you touch the stuff, or you might get blisters in the back of your throat. Someone looking at you won't notice this happening, but you'll definitely feel it. The minute the milk hits your stomach, you might get stomach spasms (yes, spasms) and/or searing heartburn, which REALLY HURTS, and unless you're doubled over in pain or spitting up-- which you may or may not be, depending on the day-- you can't really explain it to people, so you start to think maybe its just normal to feel this way. Within 24 hours, you might start to get rough, scaly patches of skin on your face or body. If you're a baby, your butt might turn flaming red. If you're lucky, these will resemble rashes, and someone will say "food allergy." If you're NOT lucky, the doctor will say you have eczema and prescribe something, or your parents will waste money on every brand of diaper and cream on the market, trying to get rid of your red butt... which comes and goes, by the way, so good luck problem solving it. The milk protein may trigger a migraine, with pain and nausea, but you're a baby, and doctors don't even know if you can GET a migraine yet, so you deal with it. Within 1-3 days your eyes and/or sinuses may get red, itchy, inflamed, and mucous-y. The doctor will say you have allergies and prescribe a pill... well, they're half right, but the pills won't help, so you'll just start to think you get sick a lot, or you'll blame it on daycare, or teething. As the milk works its way through you colon, it might trigger an inflammatory response, and you might feel raw/achy, as if you had a "head cold" down there, accompanied by sharp stabbing pains, when two inflamed parts get pushed against each other.Read more ›

Tough to find a formula that works for a child that has FPIES but this one does. It really does stink, doesn't taste all that good either but my son, now after a couple of tries, sucks it down, but only the liquid formula. He does however spit up a lot more than he ever did but he was only BF until about 7 months.

My son (who is 7 months old now) has been on this formula since he was 2 months old..it was a lifesaver for us! He had colic and acid reflux. The first 2 months of his life were hard. He screamed almost constantly and my husband and I were so desperate to help our little guy feel better. Finally, our pediatrician recommended this over the phone. We braved a snowstorm to run to the store and buy this expensive formula. It took a couple of weeks but we did finally notice a difference! We found this product on Amazon and immediately signed up for Amazon prime to have this delivered straight to our door with 2 day shipping. Imagine my surprise when I went to order it today and the price has gone from $53.94 for 6 bottles to $61.20! It is no longer cheaper to purchase here on Amazon. It now equals about $10.20 a bottle and we can get it at our local large chain grocery store for around $9/bottle plus we can use coupons that Similac sends us! Very disappointed..we loved the ease of ordering through Amazon while also saving money. We've also found it cheaper to buy diapers at the store with coupons as well. Sad day for my family when Amazon lets us down!!

My LO was born 5 weeks early and I didn't produce so she had to go on formula from the get go. We started with Neosure for 2 months, as she was a preemie. During those 2 months she suffered with severe gas pains, and I mean severe. I couldn't wait until she could come off that and we could start a sensitive formula for her gas pains. We tried every formula on the market: Similac, Enfamil, sensitive, Gerber, Soy. From 2 months of age until now, 6 months of age, no matter what formula we tried, she had severe gas pains, projectile vomiting, severe colic, cold like symptoms, and within the last month and a half, a rash all over her body. I brought her to four different pediatrics who all said that it was normal and she is just a baby with sensitive skin and catches colds easy with being in daycare and has acid reflux. The doctors told me that only 2%-3% of babies have a sensitivity or an allergy to corn and milk so that couldn't be it. I knew that it wasn't just a "normal" thing and that something was seriously wrong. I did all this research online and decided to give Similac Alimentum a try and see if it helped. I kid you not, she stopped projectile vomiting with the first bottle and 2 days later the rash was mostly gone. So, WE(the parents) assume she has a corn and milk sensitivity. For those that do suffer and if your pediatrician just tells you that it is "normal" please know that it isn't normal. Try and find something that helps your baby. I don't know that this formula works for every baby, but I would certainly try.

Another side note, starting at 2 months of age, with LO spitting up, they told us to thicken the formula with rice cereal. Because we started her so early, she has now developed intolerance to rice cereal as well. Some studies do show that babies can develop an allergy to rice cereal, and in our case, it happened. So just beware of that also.
