Small Sails is a music and film making collective from Portland, Oregon. The music is a gorgeous post-electronic tribal thing and the films are performed live at their shows using original reel-to=reel footage and dual projectors. A field of dandelions plowed over, inner-city kids jumping double dutch in gritty streets, birds and waterfalls, playground vocals, clicky electronics and warm, spacey melodies - that's what Small Sails looks and sounds like. Their new music is different, too' chanting, humming vocals hint at tangibility while remaining half-submerged; rhythms are a baby-bouncing jumble of eclectic percussion and twittering electronics; and achingly gorgeous melodies get stripped down to the still-gleaming bone. The words are sparse and nonsensical, but somehow such ambiguity it what helps make Small Sails so compelling, both on record and in person. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

As soon as you listen to the first track (Somnambulist) you can't help but feel every muscle in your body relax and get taken away. Picture how great it was to be driving in the midnight sky with the windows down and this music instantly takes you back there. Great album.

who else is making music like this. catch them live if you can. i saw them the first time at their cd release party at holocene. their live show w/ the videos is amazing. if you cant see them just buy this album sit back in your favorite chair and close your eyes

i bought this album for $1.99 at the local record store just by appearance and i wasn't expecting something this good. simple wordless vocals, soft melodies, and smooth transitions. this album is a beautiful piece of music. i would pay $20.00 for it.
