I had an older Simmons Beautyrest pillow with the coils in it that I just loved. It was just getting a little soft for my taste. I was all excited when I saw these. I am very disappointed in these pillows. These have a gusset in them whereas the original one did not. This pillow is TOO soft and squishy. If you push hard enough in the very center, you can feel the coils but they are not big enough inside and they used too much padding around the edges to fill up space. I have to fold the edges under so that my head can hit some of the harder stuff closer to the middle otherwise it flattens out too much and it is worse than an old feather pillow. If you have older pillows like this, do not waste your money thinking they are going to be the same as what you have. They are totally nothing like what you are used to sleeping on.

I have spent hundreds of dollars on pillows over the years and personally feel that the Beautyrest Pocketed Coil Pillow is the best money can buy. I have been sleeping with the same pillow for two years and it hasn't lost it's shape yet. The coils prevent that from happening. Once your head comes off the pillow, it springs right back up. I also have these pillows in my guest bedrooms and my company always comments on how great the pillows are.

I am primarily a side sleeper, so I bought this pillow based on the other buyer's review. It isn't the pillow I initially thought it was, but so far I'm very happy with it. I found gussetted pillowCOVERS, but my only complaint is that regular pillowCASES (std, queen nor king) do not truly fit these pillows. Standard width on pillowcases are 20 inches, the length is what varies. But the pillow is gussetted, so it's lofty as it is. I took it out of the package and laid on it, loved it. That night I put a pillowcase on it and couldn't sleep on it, because 20 inches makes the pillow tighter, too hard. So I slept on it for 3 nights with no case, I put the case back on and it seems to fit a LITTLE better.

Please do not waste your money purchasing these pillows. They are made in China with inferior materials. They are NOT extra firm as advertised.

All of quality control at Beautyrest should be terminated for allowing the manufacture and sale of such inferior quality goods.

I originally bought these pillows 2 years ago and they were of the highest quality. I just received 2 new pillows in early June of 2009 and they are pathetic.

There is hardly any stuffing in these pillows so they are practically flat to begin with and a Queen size pillow is the size of a standard size pillow. The pocketed coil in the middle is much smaller now than it was previous.

Everything made in China is of shoddy material and craftmanship. Beautyrest STOP having your pillows made in China!!! I refuse to buy another Beautyrest pillow.

I agree with at least other two reviewers who said that the original version of this pillow was better. I purchased the original version in 2007 and liked the pillows very much. I decided to replace these pillows earlier this year. I bought two new pocket coil pillows in March (2009) and already in Sept 2009, the pillows are worn out. The current version of the Beautyrest pocket coil pillows is of poor quality and probably explains why they are on clearance. Save your money and don't buy these pillows.

this is a very nice pillow. the coils make it very cushy, yet it's very comfortable under your head. it feels nice and soft but doesn't collapse and disappear under you. my husband loves it and we both are sleeping better since buying these pillows. i recommend them to anyone, especially if you sleep on your side or like plenty of support under your head.

This pillow is terrible. Its really hard and high and extremely uncomfortable. I can sleep on my side or back, stomach, however, but nothing worked with this pillow. I got a terrible headache after one night of sleeping on it. By the third day i had terrible pains in my neck and back and I felt terrible. It might work for some people, but this was the worst pillow I ever tried sleeping on. I went to Macy's and bought a pillow last night for around the same price that is perfect for me. I was able to touch it and squeeze it and even put my head on it in the store. I recommend trying something like a pillow out before buying it based on others reviews. A pillow is not a book.

I have had to buy about 35 pillows every year for myself since 1999 because they flatten much too fast. I can totally destroy a pillow, oftentimes within a week, and for the last 6 years I have not had a pillow for over 3 weeks... until now! I need support for both my head and my neck around the clock as I am 95% bedridden with a lifelong back and neck injury. I have been spending anywhere from 300.00 to 400.00 every year and each pillow seemed worse than the last. The purchase immediately preceeding this one was 2 "top of the line" latex and was sickened when they lasted only 2 days despite the price.

I finally decided to try this pillow even though the "inner coil" frightened me a little into thinking I was going to have a spring jabbing me in the head in a few days. Much to my surprise it is the most comfortable pillow I have acquired to date since sometime in the 80's and I have been using it for nearly 2 months now. It is still too early for a long term evaluation but I am confident enough to purchase another one for my bed in the RV.

I am very pleased with it and find it to be absolutely Cloud 9 in comfort and "puffiness"! I'm hooked!

I like most people I know have had trouble finding a pillow that really does help you rest well without trying to morph the pillow we are already using into something it's not. I found a close match with another brand, but I found I was still trying to make the pillow into something it wasn't. But when I saw these read some of the reviews and saw the great price I had to give them a try, and honestly I've found what is for me the perfect pillow.

My idea of comfort in a pillow is one that will allow me to rest my head in the pillow without finding that by a few hours I have to adjust it to prop my head up again and these keep their support all night long.

My daughter and wife don't care for a firm pillow, and like soft pillows. These pillows are soft, yet with the springs give me support that (as other have mentioned) seem to really help with me my back pain, and I wake up feeling rested and refreshed.

So if your prefer a firm pillow I would recommend these without hesitation, they are the best I've found under $100.00.

By the way I would rate them firm rather than extra firm, and again the pillow itself has a very soft outer layer with the coils adding support to give them the feel of a good firm pillow that gives you plenty of support.

I purchased this pillow the January 2007. At first it was very firm, almost too firm. I gave it a chance, and after a couple weeks tops.. it was perfect. I finally found the right pillow forever. The pillow didn't hold up as well, still the best I have.

I just ordered another from Amazon and was planning a couple weeks of "flattening out time". Wrong !! I don't know what they sent me. I had the old package handy, same thing.. I put pillow to pillow and this one is just plain cheap foam.

It's way too soft. There is not an ounce of coil and even without the original, it's something you pick up for $5.00 !! I am furious because I finally found the pillow as described by many here. Firm, but the best part being firm with coil in the center. I worked my way into it and now I need to fight with Amazon for an explaination.

If anyone is considering buying the same pillow, beware. I plan to go directly to the manufacturer for a few bucks more. If anyone knows where I can purchase this, please drop a note. Good Luck !! Stuck with a dud!!
